Titles & Text Presets Not Working for me in Vegas Pro

jchsgrad03 wrote on 4/23/2017, 3:11 AM

I've been trying to use some of the preset Title and Texts on my video project but the animations (i.e. Popup) don't animate after being placed in the project, or even when moused over for that matter. I've changed the text but haven't messed with any of the keyframes at all and even when rendered, the animation is still not working. I've attached a video to hopefully hep those that can guide me in the right direction. I'm a little rusty with Vegas so maybe it's just me.

My system I'm running is as follows:

OS: Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit

Processor: Intel i7-6700k

GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 (MSI 8GB)

RAM: 32GB G.Skill (at 2400Mhz)

You never specified what type of text you're using for your version of vegas.

I'd assume you're using protype because you expect an effect to happen without any changes to a preset. Does the preset work if you don't change the text?

Sorry, it's Vegas Pro 14 and no, the animation did the same thing even when I didn't change the text.

I had the same issue after installing build 252 (the latest). With build 211 (what I had initially installed), when you went to "Media Generators" --> "Titles and Text", the various title options were animated. With the latest build (252), you can hold the mouse over one of the text types and the progress bar for that one will indicate it is working, but nothing shows in the text itself (which did work in 211). The ones I inserted in my timeline also are not animated any more. Transitions still seem to work as expected though.

[edit] - I also tried turning off/on the GPU acceleration under the video options (as well as checking the box to "allow legacy GPU rendering" under the General options with no effect on the problem). I had not changed anything since using build 211 where it did work as expected.

@gpsmikey So how do I get build 211? Is it possible to go back to a previous build, because the one I purchased was 252 and I purchased it as a download so there is no disc.

No such problem here with build VP14 252. Text and Titles and ProType presets all working with GPU on and GPU off.

What's about .NET. On Win7 4.6.2 works for me, which includes the functionality from 3.5 that's used by VP.
4.6.1 did not work.

Desktop: Ryzen R7 2700, RAM 32 GB, X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming, Radeon RX 5700 8GB, Win10 2004

Laptop: T420, W10, i5-2520M 4GB, SSD, HD Graphics 3000

VEGAS Pro 14-18, Movie Studio 12 Platinum, Vegasaur, HOS, HitfilmPro

Thank you for all the help and suggestions. I downloaded version 211 and everything seems to work fine now. That was driving me nuts for a while.

OK, so I checked my system and it showed I had .NET Framework 4.6.01055 installed. Ran the download and install web updater for 4.6.2 from Microsoft (which took a while and then rebooted). It shows I now have 4.6.01590 installed (a newer version of 4.6.1) NOT 4.6.2, HOWEVER, that did fix the text and titles animation issue as near as I can tell. Not sure why I am not showing 4.6.2 of some flavor since that was what it was supposed to install. To check the version of .NET Framework you are running, open a cmd window and run the following:

reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\full" /v version

(see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1565434/how-do-i-find-the-net-version for more info).

No problem here in VP14 build 252 and Windows 10 version 1511. Titles & Text animations are working. Here's what .NET Framework stuff I have installed (from Control Panel > Programs & Features:

Section 6 of this post has instructions on repairing/installing .NET Framework.

gpsmikey, what Windows version are you using? If 10, did you get the Anniversary and Creators editions updates?

gpsmikey wrote on 4/24/2017, 8:52 AM

I should have mentioned - windows 7/64, 12GB memory. I did notice that windows did some sort of additional update to the .NET framework last night while I was sleeping and rebooted my machine. Everything still seems to be working OK. I was one of those that got bitten by M$ with their routine where they re-defined the "X" on the update to 10 dialog box to confirm installation of 10 instead of killing the dialog. It rebooted right in the middle of imaging my C drive - fortunately I was watching when it happened and killed the 10 install (then found the "never10.exe" utility that prevents it from doing it again!! ) I like 7 mostly

@gpsmikey I updated my .NET framework and now the 252 update works. Thank you for the information; not sure why that would cause such an impact, but you live and learn.

gpsmikey wrote on 4/25/2017, 9:10 AM

@matthias-krutz was the one up above that put me on to the possibility of the issue being a problem involving .NET Fortunately, this time, the fix was pretty easy. Usually, it takes days of digging to find someone else with my same problem :-)

jchsgrad03 wrote on 4/25/2017, 9:21 AM

Very true. Thank you @matthias-krutz for your help as well. Just glad it's working now; my head was raw from all the hits against the wall lol.

Hey guys

Thanks for posting this. I was just having the very same problem and read this post. I downloaded version 4.6.2 of Net Framework and the problem was instantly solved. Saved so much time. Thanks heaps, especially @matthias-krutz for the suggestion.

I'm having the same problem. It works on another previous project, but not my latest. I don't want to update to any new builds because each time I'm prompted to register and when I try it refuses my email. It's a tremendous headache. I like the software much better when it belonged to Sony. I had no issues with anything then.
