UPDATE BETA RELEASE: VEGAS Pro 22 BETA Build 243 Feedback

VEGAS_CommunityManager wrote on 3/4/2025, 7:56 AM

Hello VEGAS community.

We at VEGAS Creative Software and MAGIX want to provide you with the best editing experience possible and we are experimenting with different ways to help us improve the quality of our software. To that end, we are excited to announce an experimental open beta for our next update of VEGAS Pro 22. You can only find the official build here on the VEGAS User Forum. Please use only this thread to share your feedback.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • This is beta software that may still contain known and unknown issues. Do not use this, or any beta software, to work on critical projects
  • Use only comments to this thread to deliver all feedback. Please do not post feedback about a beta build in separate threads. This allows us to keep the feedback on this beta build separate from official released builds and allows the team to follow the feedback easily in one place
  • No customer support will be provided for any beta build. Support tickets created in reference to a beta build will be met with a response telling you to post feedback in this thread
  • This is a one-time experiment, and we will evaluate the process after this update is ultimately released to determine if we could do this again in the future

UPDATE TIMELINE

  • This is the first of two beta builds we expect for this update. After the last beta build, we will post a release-candidate build (RC) here. When that RC passes all internal and external testing, we will release it in the normal manner
  • We do not yet have an official release date for this update

ABOUT THIS BUILD

Please see the fixes and changes provided in this beta build for the next update:

Features:

  • Limited Text-to-speech and Speech-to-text functionality now available in trial installs
  • Spoken words are now highlighted in the Subtitle Generator for Text-based Editing
  • Support for AC3 media on Windows 11 systems with update 24H2 installed

Improvements and Bug fixes:

  • Portrait-mode media is now displayed properly in the preview window
  • Incompatible Video plugins will no longer cause VEGAS to crash on startup
  • Improved results with Video Stabilization for interlaced media
  • Black-bar fill no longer leaves a thin border around the image
  • The Audio FX editor now works properly with the Auto Resize preference
  • Fixed an issue where the Upscale FX could result in black frames with AMD GPUs
  • Fixed a crash which could occur when the Z-Depth interpolation mode was changed
  • Fixed crash which could occur when thumbnails were updated in the Project Media window
  • Fixed crash which could occur when automating parameters for Video FX
  • Fixed crash which could occur when HEVC media contained an unsupported audio stream
  • Event opacity/gain can no longer exceed 100% when simultaneously adjusting multiple events
  • HEIC images are now available in the Slideshow Creator

You may download this beta build from here:

We look forward to your feedback.

Warmest regards,

The VEGAS Creative Software team

Vegas Pro is not at all working for me. I have reached out to customer support, reinstalled the software countless amount of times, done everything but can't seem to resolve this issue.

The app crashes and hangs as soon as I open it. When I launch it in offline mode, I receive this error:

WebView2 failed initialization, error information follows: WebView2 was already initialized with a different CoreWebView2Environment. Check to see if the Source property was already set or EnsureCoreWebView2Async was previously called with different values.

I think the reason is that Vegas Hub and its online services uses Microsoft WebView2 server and Microsoft is experiencing a service outage and that is why Vegas is crashing on me!

I was recommended this BETA release by MAGIX support to resolve this issue. But unfortunately, it still persists. Could you perhaps have any resolution for this?

Resetting worked up until the launch, but as soon as I accessed "online services" like Speech-to-Text, the app crashed again. It doesn’t close — it just stays stuck in that state indefinitely. Additionally, the Vegas login window won’t progress past the password screen; it keeps buffering endlessly, as if there's an issue with the cloud services of Vegas or Microsoft in the background.

I’ve added my signature and will create a new post to discuss this further.

Hoping for some positive news from Support!

I Created this forum here. I really hope I get this resolved soon!

Lut filter uses all of VRAM and Ram the memory leak exists since the first build of Vegas Pro 22 i think. There have been reports of other video fx filters with the same problem, i really hope you guys fix the memory leak in this build, third party lut plugins just dont perform the same as Vegas Pros own Lut filter.

I loaded one of my projects and checked the system RAM usage of VP22. I used the LUT Filter for UHD 4K 10bit 422 clip and there didn't appear to be a memory usage increase. As for the GPU, usage was low.

Why can't I use explorer in Vegas pro 22? Simply when trying to browse the folders, the program crashes or actually crashes the computer.

Dear Neal,

unfortunately the beta-release has no effect. The error (Vegas crashing when changing Audio-Bus Output) occurs further on - no change.
For your information: this error is only with windows 11. bevor changing the OS, Vegas was working fine with Windows 10

Try Editing for 5 minuets or render a video that's 5 minuets long or more with the Lut filter applied the more time you spend editing or rendering you will see the Ram and VRAM slowly filling up until it completely hangs the system, at least that's what i have been experiencing since the very first build of Vegas Pro 22 and saw some other threads from people who have been experiencing the same issue.

@Abubakar I am still not experiencing this issue. I've added two LUT's via the LUT Filter, editing the video for 20 minutes now, and still no increase in memory usage. GPU RAM remained at 7.8GB used out of the 12GB that I have after . This also takes into account Firefox being open along with the Task Manager running. After restarting the project, 3.2GB GPU RAM used. I started adding various different LUT's to several videos and GPU RAM only went to 3.6GB.

Screenshot 1 after the project loads. Screenshot 2, LUT filter applied. Screenshot 3, after 20 minutes of editing, using Vegas Beat Detection, resizing images adding pan/zoom via Pan/Crop.

@Abubakar I am able to replicate the LUT issue with 22.243. With just a 720p project and AVC media with a LUT filter attached to the events and a second on the output Fx I was able to use up all system ram and playback slows to .6fps. I didn't do any editing, just made a few cuts and played it through.

I wasn't able to crash VEGAS though. It gets within 1GB of running out of ram, frees up 1GB or so and keeps playing.

Edit: this is with my RTX4060 mobile laptop with 8GB VRAM and 48GB of system ram (see signature). I can get over 20GB of shared GPU memory in use.

and closed VEGAS:

yes, the new public beta build. I now updated my screenshot. sorry for the confusion but it was the same error.

But another member now gave me a workaround for this!

in settings -> file I/O I have to check enable legacy AVC decoding and enable experimental HEVC decoding so this would bypass the mxcompoundplug.dll error I got.
