V12 Color Match performance issue

Also it's only occurring when applied as a Track FX. Not as a media, event or video output FX.

And it dates back to at least VP12, when the FX was introduced.

Here's a tiny VP12 project that demonstrates it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8ftVT5A1FqQM0lBMHRDNXFrWFk/view?usp=sharing

What's your GPU? Any Nvidia users getting this?

"Any Nvidia users getting this?"

Vegas Pro 12 and 13 fail with a GTS450 enabled.

Now, let me go turn GPU acceleration off before I forget.

Vegas 13 and 14 with GPU enabled (whether GTX960M or Onboard Intel 4600)

I had a reply from Magix Support (regarding the color-shift in fades issue) that included this:

"There are unfortunately still many GPU issues with the software our development team is correcting. At the current time we don't recommend GPU usage for general editing, but if you must use it for your work we recommend rolling back the driver a few versions until you no longer see this behavior with the color match effect."

I'd be interested if anyone does not see this issue with with any GPU/driver combination. I suspect it's universal.

Hi,

Does not work with R9 280X either (latest drivers by todays date)...

My current 1h20m project renders out faster than realtime using the GPU. Everything else works fine (even 3rd party plugins), only the Vegas native plain vanilla color match filter fails during fade in/outs. Turning off the GPU slows my render to 12,5 HOURS! I need to do lots of iterations of this project for a customer and this slows down my schedule at least another week! Frustrated - yes!

Usually, if something fails you just open a manual and read about what you did wrong. With Vegas Pro, if anything fails you just turn off the GPU. This GPU thing has been a joke since day one! Many vice people predicted problems. Many other suites (with a price tag) like Edius, PP, Finalcut, just roam away with the GPUs enabled. Even free software (Resolve, Fusion) works nicely with the GPU enabled. There is a lot to gain using GPU assisted rendering - when it works!

Magix needs to reassure us that they are seriously doing something about it, other than "recommend(ing) rolling back the driver a few versions until you no longer see this behavior with the color match effect."?!  So - I have to experiment with various GPU drivers and find one that works - maybe?! This just adds to the already serious frustration...Aarghhh...

So far I have not got any value for the money I spent on VP14. Just lost the pro audio rendering option... So Magix IS working on it - but will this be fixed in VP14 in a foreseeable future? Probably not. I have to again spend some money to get this fixed in VP15, VP16 or  VP17?

Sorry for the rant. I lower this sowftare when it works! If someone finds an Radeon driver that works please let us know, as I will inform you if I find a solution...

Christian

Render out intermediates for the fades with GPU off. I know it's not a solution but it's a workaround that might help you in this instance.

I think it's highly possible that nobody ever told the developers about this issue until I reported it a week ago. They can't fix what they don't know about.

The long-standing bug whereby there was a huge color shift in fades when the Color Match track FX was applied with GPU acceleration ON, is fixed in VP15 build 261. Thank you Magix 👍
