V16 crashes at 18% on loading recent v15 project.

Tried 3 times, no luck...!

Really annoying, as the new Boris luma keyer would greatly improve my keys in that project.

What could be the issue??

Thanks!

What kind of footage are you using ? You could try to disable the So4 reader as in Vp15, if your footage does not need it.

I just loaded a recent Vp15 project with mainly UHDp30 XAVC-S footage and many *.wav comment - in total ~1100 items in Project Media - with no problem (So4 is disabled).

Thanks Peter,

It's all XAVCS. I saw that it actually decodes it using So4.

But before disabling that, I disabled GPU, reloaded the project, it worked. I then reenabled GPU, loaded it again, it did a couple of weird things but loaded it eventually... so it seems to be solved ...project loads OK now. If there's more trouble, I'll disable So4.

What is So4 reader?

It's a decoder DLL that used to cause a lot of problems, but I think they've sorted most of them out so far. None the less, when troubleshooting problems we usually disable it to see if it helps any. Mindmatter, have you updated your GPU drivers recently? Might be worth a shot.

Fr0sty, the last time I updated my Radeon 290 with I think 18.1., it was armageddon. Windows wouldn't boot anymore as the screens just showed purple and green lines straight after the boot manager appeared for a millisecond. Took me a while to find out how the hell you get to safe mode these days...haven't touched the driver with a ten foot pole since. So for V16 now seems to be OK, I'll leave it at that for now...

How can I turn it on / off?
