Thanks for creating a separate post. This way, things won't get lost with a lot of different posts reporting different issues.

Can you provide a typical timeline when it happens, screenshot? Does this happen with every project timeline?

All my videos are from my Panasonic G9. From 1080HD to 10bit 4:2:2 MOV 4K files. Never ever an issue.

Chris021@ I confirm! Vegas version 23 is a disaster! I've been struggling for hours to do something simple (open two projects and copy from one to the other) and it doesn't work! I wait 15 minutes for it to open!

20 minutes, and it still hasn't just now copied, but it doesn't do anything anymore, completely blocked. For over 8 hours I haven't been able to copy a part of one project to another!

Also please provide some info on your system so others may try to help you with your disastrous situation.

It happens randomly in all my projects. 1080p project with Panasonic G9 4K 8bit 30fps MOV files.

How do you want me to provide the timeline ?

@Chris021 just a question in general. Why do you capture 4K 8bit in MOV and not MP4?

Looking at your screenshot (thank you), how long is the timeline project? Again, all my projects are created from photos/video from my G9.

@vasile-hertely don't hijack a thread that has nothing to do with your issues. If you have issues, create your own thread, be precise with the information from the POST, including "B" and "C". This is a user forum. If you want to express your displeasure, why not write Magix directly?

Oh, and your user profile is blank. How about adding your computer specs to your Signature.

@Chris021, mp4 might be easier on your computer to edit. The 10bit 422 videos are MOV though.

MOV and MP4 shouldn't matter, it's what's in the containers. My Canon shoots MOV, my Sony shoots MP4.

For troubleshooting if you did have a veg file and a couple of pieces of media others of us could try to see if it crashes. I have two NVIDIA systems myself.

Chris021 wrote on 9/22/2025, 1:10 AM

My projects have all big size, like 40Gb.
I have found why I have chosen MOV earlier, see picture.
Is it really better compared to MP4 to edit videos ?

10 bit 422 4K can be hard to edit as no AMD GPUs and only the latest NVIDIA GPUs can decode it. 8 bit 1080p should be easy.

Please see your instruction manual for differences between these formats as what's on the screen doesn't say much. You'd need to look at each file type with Media info to figure out what it is (is their MOV intraframe?)

This is 8-bit AVC 30fps in a MOV container. It should be easy to decode I'd think. One odd thing is why it's opening with so4compoupndplug. Can you make sure legacy AVC is unchecked in preferences, file io? Legacy checked in 23 is the same as legacy unchecked in 19.

@Chris021 and @RogerS give me a few minutes and I will record a MOV file and see how it performs on my computer. Right now, I have an "up against the wall" project that I have to finish.

While I might not exhibit the same issue, since I won't have a 40GB project. So this brings me back to Chris, does this happen with just a few clips or when there are a lot of them?
