Most of the things on my wishlist are there. Glad I passed on V9. Assuming everything works as advertised, V10 looks like it's worth the upgrade (for me anyway).

Track grouping and fully implemented closed captioning are two of the biggies for me. I'll also be interested in seeing what the user interface improvements are.

Squandal, i would agree with Mike's comment too. As an example i was previously using an Intel quad core @ 2.66 ghz and even that had issues previewing Canon movs! Ram, of course, has a massive effect too. And 1gig is just not enough. Yes its all money! Now running an i7 and i can just about preview movs without stuttering.
However, the point still stands, Canon movs are simply not handled efficiently by Vegas 9. Rendering takes longer than it needs to. And this has been confirmed by responses from Sony Support. Many emails later, and i too got the response of simply transcoding from MOV to some other format. In my case, I ended up using Production Assistant to batch render out the clips into HDV. This is a bit of pain and takes ages depending on the clips.
Ok, back to the thread subject matter - Vegas 10! Hopfully this is finally fixed.
Paul.

Wait wait! I thought a PC with 8GB of RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 at 2.83 GHz, with DirectX 11 was quite a respectable PC able to run smoothly and quickly most HD tasks! Are you and Mike telling me this isn't enough?

squandal, i can only speak from my own experience here, and my quad core had trouble previewing Canon movs smoothly. But saying that, i was at least able to work on footage and edit. Only the move to i7 and hyperthreading cores gave enough power to preview without stutters. A massive waste of cpu usage just to preview!.
8 Gig ram - should be fine.
Note, this is only problems with canon footage!, if you preview other footage, like sony HDV for example, you can get smooth previews right down to a duo core 2 ghz. Its crazy.
Paul.

So, where's the button that will give me 6 hours more each day, so I can actually sit down and edit?

It's right next to the button marked "extra time to sleep."

Perhaps this has been asked and answered before. WIll it be possible to have installed versions of Vegas 9 and Vegas 10 on the same system?

Each one installs to it's own separate folder so yes, it is possible.
I currently have Vegas 7, 8 and 9 and DVDA 4 and 5 on my computer with no problems at all.
