i didn't remove any post, so, "someone" reeeealllyyy does not want vegas on XP...
also, newblue titler pro worked on v10 on XP, so looks like sony is becoming "that" company, trying to "force" updates with no real reason. and silently deleting post about it?
i can't believe there are so many people upset by sony not supporting an OS that even microsoft doesn't support.
and 'big brother is watching'? really, take a loot at the logo at the top left and consider how much your paying to be a part of this forum, and get some perspective.
times like this i wish there was a 'pro' forum. or maybe some of you guys should hang out on the basics vegas forum on the COW.
well, sony could always NOT SUPPORT, but at least, let us install. this is 2 things. also, because microsoft does not support an OS, does not mean "dead", if it is working before, will still works after. there are about 360 million pcs with XP out there. and you talk about perpective?
did you see the ":P" in the end of the frase? on the web it means im being funny.
and personally, silent delete messages with no warning at all, i find a really "unprofessional" thing.
give me a warning. say "its against the rule to talk about that". im fine. i will gladly delete the posts. but wake up and keep looking for my messages thinking "where they go?" is weird.
rdolishny, i understand and respect your opinion. but i also have mine.
"I thought that support for XP would be around for a while. I hate to mess around for 2 weeks to upgrade to Win 7 which I do not like."
Wow - it only took me an hour.
But since you can buy a 1-Tb drive for $50, just install Win 7 on a new HDD.
Hint - (this is from Microsoft) - you can do a clean install with the upgrade disc.
1) Install Win 7 as a demo. Ignore the serial number screen.
2) Using the same install disc, install as an upgrade. This time, enter the serial number.
> "Business support is completely different than consumer. My day job has 70,000 people/workstations/laptops who are running on the XP OS and we do have MS support for XP. "
That's because your company is paying Microsoft for an Extended Support Contract that will no longer be renewed as of April 8, 2014 which is the end of extended support for Windows XP if you follow my link. I doubt that many people here are paying for an extended support contract with Microsoft.
But you're making my point. If you run a business and you don't have a contract, you are running your business on an unsupported platform. When a Microsoft update causes a problem with your PC and you can't get your project rendered for your client, you have no place to turn for help.
SteveMann:
Reason I don't like Win 7 Pro 32 bit (online computer) is the networking will not communicate with my Vista 64 bit (Vegas computer) nor my XP Pro computers. (backup and Moms) Also installing the 10 to 20 applications along with Win 7 and the new drivers takes considerable time. On the other hand Vista will communicate even without cables (not really) but not with Win 7. Yes, one hour to install Win 7 but two weeks to do everything else like all the options that were selected if you can remember them. Hell it takes 15 minutes just to find the dam discs in the cabinet. Then try to remember which video card is in which computer? It's a nightmare.

I can offer a solution to install VP11 on XP using the trial installer. It's been quite a while since I've upgraded vegas (still on Pro 8), but the trial installer does install the full version if one has valid registration codes, correct?
If anyone is interested I'll post the fix elsewhere and just link here since such information might be mysteriously vaporized.
Windows XP is TEN YEARS OLD today. (October 25, 2011)
Up until last month, Windows XP had the largest OS market share but has now lost it to Windows 7. Windows 7 has 40.41 percent of the market, while XP has fallen to 38.51 percent.
"Then try to remember which video card is in which computer?"
Post-it notes.

Actually it will. The trick is to make sure all computers are using the same workgroup name. Next, go into the advanced sharing settings on the Windows 7 PC and dumb down the sharing security. In the Home profile:
1-Turn on network discovery
2-Turn in file and printer sharing
3-Turn on sharing so that any one on the network can access files in public folders
4-Enable file sharing for devices that use 40- or 56-bit encryption
5-Turn off Password Protected sharing
