I haven't heard of that occurring before with Vegas Pro, but it regularly happened with Sound Forge Pro released by Sony - as often as every 3 or 4 weeks. This was with Windows 8.1 at the time.

The fix, which requires an edit in the registry, was:

- Open regedit (use Windows search field with the keyword regedit)
- Find the key named ''HKEY_USERS\XXXXXX-XXXX_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software"
- Delete the key
- Close regedit
- Soundforge now works again

Note : in the key name above, 'XXXXX-XXXX' is a number which may be unique to your machine.

As with any edit in the registry, its a good idea to R click the entry (Sony Creative Software in this case) and export it so that it can be reinstalled if the deletion has unintended results. There's no CTRL-Z undo process available in the registry.

This worked every time for Sound Forge Pro, so I hope that it works with Vegas Pro 10 for you.
