Vegas 14 Email Offer

Since the initial title regarding the email offer has drifted into 'scripting', could I ask some basic questions concerning these indispensable utilities? Please keep in mind that I am only a hobbyist so this may be a dumb question to some:

If I run 'timeline tools' on a collection of events on my timeline, does that in itself embed any information in the veg file?
Same question with Motofoto from Vasst?
Same question with Vegasaur?

I am under the impression that once run, these scripts just make changes to your events by using the Vegas programming information/capabilities. If I save this veg file and move it to another computer with the same version of Vegas (11,12,13) but NOT containing these scripting utilities wouldn't the veg file load?

What I am getting at is if this is correct, and if vegas14 has some improved render formats or even a new render engine, could we not use our existing version of vegas, use our favorite scripts and then after saving the veg file just open it in vegas14 and go on our merry way?

I did mention I am a hobbyist and that this may be a dumb question, right?

No

The veg file would load.

We could, but bear in mind that V14 projects are extremely unlikely to be backwards compatible to previous versions. Would love it if they were though. We got lucky with V13 compatibliity to V12. That was the best feature of V13!

The issue is that all these existing scripts and extensions won't work at all in V14 without modification.

At the risk of getting boring and sounding desperate, I still don't really understand why V14 couldn't be made to read older scripts and extensions and convert/redirect the namespace etc. internally, on the fly. How could that possibly be illegal? And technically it doesn't sound like a particularly difficult thing to achieve.

Nick is correct in that Vegas Scripts and Extensions make no changes to the Vegas project that would prevent a project created in Sony Vegas v13 from loading into Magix Vegas v14. HOWEVER ... because Magix made such broad sweeping changes to the Vegas Namespace, API, AND PLUG-IN NAMES, some scripts that make references to Plug-in's that contain the Sony name, such "Sony Color Corrector", will not load properly into Magix Vegas v14, because they changed the name to something more generic. I'm not sure if the script will fail to load, or possibly the script will simply ignore that setting in the project.

Nick & Gary, thank you both for addressing my concerns. I was asking just to make sure I could use continue to use these 'scripts' in Vegas13 and "if needed" load the resulting veg file into Vegas14. As I mentioned in another post, I will probably purchase 14 but only after all the reviews are posted. Some of these 'scripts' may not be updated or even discontinued and some of the updates may be cost prohibitive on my retirement/fixed income, so I just wanted to be sure that I could still take advantage of their usefulness even if I have to use two different versions of Vegas.

I just checked my email box and see no such offer for Vegas 12 users. I held off upgrading to 13 on early rumors that circulated some time after waiting for Vegas 13 to stabilize. The only notice I have is from 5/29 on the sale of Sony's assets to Magix. Might want to keep this in mind if there are any upgrade notices.
