It just works through the regular Bezier masking tool, right?

Yes.

Yes. The combination of Bézier masking and Picture-in-Picture (using the extension "Copy Motion Track to PiP" ).

16's motion tracking is 2D only, it can't take an image and map it onto a rotating cube, and follow the cube as it rotates in 3D. In the video above, you can see the images mapped onto the sides of the buildings, and they twist along with the buildings as they should. Vegas 16 wouldn't have been able to do that, only the videos mapped to the face of the buildings that is facing the camera.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

"Isn't this a key highlight of 16."

This was tracking. New for version 17 is planar tracking which is a different tracking base technology which actually is a big improvement to the tracking technology of version 16 (see fr0sty's infos).

Thank's a lot.

As mentioned above it is working in the tracking feature of the Bézier Mask FX.

Harold-Linke wrote on 8/8/2019, 12:23 PM

@Marco. How do you activate the planartracking in the bezier Mask FX? I only have the same options that I have in Vegas 16.

Harold-Linke wrote on 8/8/2019, 12:30 PM

@Marco: Forget my question. I just found it. Youhave to use the modus "Form and Position". Right? In the old version this was "Scale, Rotation and Position". Unfortunately the help is of no help here. The description is still the "old" one (at least in the German version)

Marco. wrote on 8/8/2019, 12:36 PM

I think (not sure though) in Vegas Pro 17 it is always the planar tracker which is doing the tracking.

What's different compared to VP16 is the options of the tracking mode. The third one in VP17 is "Shape & Location" and that "Shape" didn't exist in VP16. So chances are you need to select this particular option.

Edit:
You've been faster. Yes, in the German localized version this option is called "Form und Position".
