Vegas 18 pro will not load

klapkowscy.com wrote on 8/3/2020, 5:11 PM

I have this problem and I have Vegas Pro 17 installed on my film editing station with additions from Red Gain and New BlueFX. I bought Vegas PRO 18 and it installs everything ok but when I want to start the program right after loading it crashes with an error report. Could the reason be that there are add-ons installed. Note that on another computer Vegas PRO 18 normally installed and it is a much worse unit. What is wrong? Will you help?

I've read other users saying that it was one of the plugins they had installed causing the issue.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Czytałem innych użytkowników, którzy twierdzili, że była to jedna z wtyczek, które zainstalowali, powodująca problem.

My plugins are new blue fx art, colorfast, film effects light effects motion effects paint effects esentials I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, Universe and RedGine Link

Tomorrow I will check to uninstall all add-ons and install vegas pro 18 first, run as it goes to install add-ons and see what then

You can 'limit' the OFXs to run in specific version in case these FXs cause error, by moving from 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX' to "C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 17.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins" (in this case, limit only to run in VP17).

Hope helps.

I don't really know how to block them so that they run from 17 and not 18

This is some kind of drama and I am angry and very cheated by MAGIX where they sold me a VEGAS PRO18 product that does not work. How can you take money for something that is unfinished and does not even start.

klapkowscy.com wrote on 8/4/2020, 5:37 AM

Unfortunately, I uninstalled vegas pro 17, uninstalled all add-ons and reinstalled Vegas Pro 18 and what doesn't start. Help

New graphics card drivers uploaded and also does not work

I have the same problem. Drivers are up to date, VP17 works fine. VP18 purchased and registration process went OK. But VP18 does not load

Mam ten sam problem. Sterowniki są aktualne, VP17 działa dobrze. Zakup VP18 i proces rejestracji przebiegły sprawy. Ale VP18 nie ładuje się

I can see that I am not the only one with this problem. Do you have any add-ons installed?

The only add-on I have installed is the latest Vegasaur. I also have Hitfilm Pro 14 and all my Windows 10 updates are current.

It will not help you, but I have NewBlue (Titler Pro 6, Filters, Transitions, Elements, Stylizers ...), NeatVideo, Vegasaur, Happy Otter installed in VP 17 Pro, no problem to install VP18 or to start VP 18.

I also have the latest Windows and crap. But there must be something, since I am not the only one who has a problem. The only question is whether formatting the disk will help something and reinstalling everything. I do not know how to release a new soft that has disadvantages, so much to take money for it

I don't know if I understand correctly I should copy the entire content of C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ OFX to C: \ Program Files \ VEGAS \ VEGAS Pro 17.0 \ OFX

Maybe worth a shot: delete everything from C/users/name/AppData/Local/VegasPro/18

See if it starts.

@klapkowscy.com. I didn´t any tricks, just install without no problems, so it maybe not a problem correlated solely with plug-ins. Sorry, if that wasn´t clear in my posting.

FAQ here as well: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-vegas-pro-won-t-start-what-can-i-do--104784/

Instead of deleting folders (which would mess with older Vegas versions), just temporarily rename them (or temporarily copy the contents to another folder) while you try to figure out which one is the problem. My guess is it's a plug-in that's found in one of your pre-17 versions that isn't compatible with 18.

FWIW I have 15-18 installed here and each starts up fine.

Plugins aren't exactly famous for clean uninstallation, espicially OFX. They're kind of like ADOBE, always leaving residue behind. As such, the VEGAS Team (not MAGIX) have nothing to do with it.

Go to the directory, Program Files and open "Common Files" and look for OFX. Rename it to OFX.old

Now attempt to Install VEGAS PRO 18.

If it loads fine, delete OFX.old and simply reinstall your plugins (assuming they can adapt to VEGAS PRO 18 since its barely a few days old)
