The more detailed you can provide: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/ the more we can figure out what is the problem.

@Rui-Nunes Hi, there's an App called MediaInfo, download it, it's free & a fast download with no added adverts or any of that rubbish. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
After downloading, right click on each of the media files in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the options at the top, Copy & paste the information in a new comment on here 👍

Can you also share MediaInfo for the c001?

What camera or cameras are these files from?

mark-y wrote on 7/4/2024, 7:45 PM

@Rui-Nunes

There is nothing about your file that should prevent opening in any version of Vegas.

To get prompt action on your discovery, please include the words [Bug Report] in the title of your topic. Thanks for your report.

RogerS wrote on 7/4/2024, 8:24 PM

FYI- it's not possible to edit posts beyond a short time after posting any longer.

@Rui-Nunes Would you also be able to provide a short sample file from this camera via Google Drive or another service? AVC really should open in VEGAS. It would be good to confirm if this is only an issue on your system or an issue with VEGAS in general.

Thanks everyone. I also have a number of Fuji files here and they all work, so I'm curious what the issue with the OP is.

@Rui-Nunes Maybe try resetting VEGAS? Here are instructions.

Also the files that work are labeled c001 which indicates Sony. All my cameras are Sony and all formats they shoot work in VEGAS, so that's expected.

Rui-Nunes wrote on 7/5/2024, 3:47 AM

Ive set to default settinggs and still doesnt read the file.

Ive got another fuji that all videos appear i dont know if they are recorded in diferent formats.

But this way its impossible to use vegas to edit.

RogerS wrote on 7/5/2024, 3:50 AM

You can take screenshots with windows + shift + s or the prtscn key.

VEGAS doesn't normally have any issues with AVC in MP4 containers.

If you go to preferences/ file io and check "enable legacy AVC decoding" does that help?

Could you upload the file that doesn't work somewhere (Google Drive?)

Are your GPU drivers up to date? Help/ driver update in VEGAS can help find the latest.

I suppose it uses a Quicktime format for timecode? All MOV files also say Quicktime. That doesn't have any bearing on how VEGAS decodes it though.

...  i also have k-lite codeks and also quicktime instaled.

Over the years, some regular forum members have shuddered on learning that a 3rd party codec pack is installed on the computer - particularly K-Lite.

Try uninstalling K-Lite, run a registry cleaner such as the free CCleaner, and see if K-Lite is the cause of the problem.

When you get an error message, can you click show problem details and see the error message and copy and paste it in here? Sometimes it offers a clue.

mark-y wrote on 7/5/2024, 7:18 AM

You may need to reinstall Windows to get rid of rogue registry entries associated with K-Lite. It can be harder than a case of bedbugs to get rid of.

Going forward, it's best only to download individual codecs from their source if needed for a specific format.
