Vegas 23 edit GH6 MOV files

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/12/2025, 12:06 PM

When I edit GH6 MOV files, the audio starts having a clicking/popping effect in one channel, and the same happens after exporting the file. This issue does not occur in version 22. :( How to fix it ?

@rafa-jakubowski The link is not to an MOV file.

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/12/2025, 1:00 PM

@VEGASDerek  I’ve attached a link to an audio file that demonstrates how the problem sounds. While everything works fine in Vegas 22, unfortunately new problems appear with files from the Lumix S5 and GH5. In Vegas 22 they work perfectly, but in version 23 the preview barely works, even though the program settings are exactly the same.

VEGASDerek wrote on 9/12/2025, 1:40 PM

A link to a file telling it how it sounds really does not help us out. The sound is corrupted...I will take your word for that. Without a sample file which we can reproduce the problem with, we really cannot expect to help you out.

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/12/2025, 3:44 PM

@VEGASDerek If you are unable to open a simple audio file in FLAC format, this suggests that you may not have the necessary knowledge to resolve the codec issue properly in the software. I kindly ask you to escalate this problem to someone more competent who can address it. Thank you for your attempt to help.

@rafa-jakubowski I think you don't understant who @VEGASDerek is.

You must upload the original file so @VEGASDerek or the rest of the team, kan check what causes the problem..

@rafa-jakubowski Please treat all forum members with respect if you wish to remain a user of this forum. Also Insulting the only person here with the power to help you is not in your interest.

As Joran wrote you need to upload an original file to a file sharing service (not this forum) for analysis. Dropbox, Box, Google Drive- you can pick any.

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/13/2025, 1:52 AM

@RogerS Does this mean I am expected to pay for software that does not work properly, and that when I point out the lack of competence I am threatened with having my account removed?

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/13/2025, 1:54 AM

By reading the forum, I can see that I’m not the only one experiencing problems with Lumix camera files in version 23.

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/13/2025, 2:10 AM

You have received an audio sample created with this very program, in which the format-handling error in Vegas is clearly audible. First I read that you are unable to open a file generated by your own software, and then I am threatened with account removal. This is unacceptable. Work — and especially releasing new versions of software — comes with the responsibility that when people who have been working with it for years suddenly find that it no longer functions correctly, it is natural that they are not satisfied, especially when the new version is advertised as being four times faster and better. My clients are waiting for my work, and I cannot afford such delays. For now, I am reverting to the previous version, but perhaps it is time for me to move over to DaVinci if these issues cannot be resolved.

RogerS wrote on 9/13/2025, 2:18 AM

@rafa-jakubowski If you point out places where the software does not work properly we welcome that feedback to make it better. However if you insult the developers of the program or fellow users yes, you will have your account deactivated. We don't have many rules here, but being respectful is one of them.
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/community-rules/

If you would like your problem fixed, please provide the requested information so the program's testers and developers can access it.

The audio sample at the top is a flac file. I do not think this is a file produced by a GH6 and does not match the MediaInfo above. Please provide original media showing the issue from a GH6 so that we can test it on other systems. That's all that we are asking for- help us help you.

1 - I put a MOV file on the timeline with the parameters from my first message (MOV 4096x2160).

2 - The audio in one of the channels starts clicking.

3 - The problem happens not only during editing but also after export.

4 - I attached an audio file saved in your program to clearly show the issue.

5 - Instead of checking, I first receive vague answers that the file is damaged, then threats about removing my account, and then claims that the file was not even saved with this program.

6 -The program in version 22 works without any problems.

Let's try again

1 - Link to the original file from the camera (Lumix GH6) for testing. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TgICCHbEPi6FpqURyTjYCRxXPFg0RLgY/view?usp=sharing

2 - Audio file saved from Vegas 23 showing the problem. I hear the same issue both during editing and after export. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pd_ugFYl2aYMTFc_B4veM3AG0iwPjUc6/view?usp=sharing

3. The same file saved with Vegas 22 works without any problem. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wHb2hF2Gtvxi1zG7Tf_trHW5HfQe3iFQ/view?usp=sharing

Thank you for sharing these files.

Regarding #5, I see nothing in this thread with any information about any files. Do you also have a support ticket open? This public forum and direct VEGAS support are not related so there is no way for us to see any correspondence or files you upload to support (I also see nothing here about damaged files or removing your account).

RogerS wrote on 9/13/2025, 3:33 AM

I loaded this GH6 file into VP 23.278 and played it back.
About 1/4 of the way in I started to hear clicking. Isolating the tracks it appear that stream 2/track two is the issue.

In a media player stream 2 sounds clean.

I loaded the same media into 21.208 and don't hear any issue.
So problem confirmed with my desktop (NVDEC decoding).

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 9/15/2025, 11:10 PM

I think the problem is that the 2 audio streams with content are imported as dual mono, both panned to center. When I played them and watched the meters, I saw overloads up to +1.8 db and heard pops on the overloads. If you play this with vp22 or a viewer that hides the pops, it's not doing you any favors. You need to fix it. Looking at the waveforms of the 2 audio streams, they appear identical. If they are just duplicates of one another, you only need one of them. So the simple fix is to mute one of them. If they were actually different and meant to be stereo, the fix would be to pan the stream meant to be the right channel all the way, hard R. And to the other hard L. Then, with the panning law Vegas follows, lower the volume on each to -6db. You might also want to check your camera's docs to see if there's a setting to record in stereo. Then you wouldn't have to fix it.

RogerS wrote on 9/16/2025, 12:38 AM

Why is 23 different than 21 though- seems like a bug with how VEGAS is decoding them. MPC Black also doesn't play any pops in stream 2.

johnny-s wrote on 9/16/2025, 4:17 AM

Maybe it's a hearing issue but I cannot hear any pops on any of the audio? VP23 b278.

My idea was to extract the 2 real streams and then replace/mute/delete the original.

Two extracted streams .. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lxkx7n9mi2vm1k47k79yq/P1000008-rafa.zip?rlkey=jrrdnhcnv26ro6lmzmpyx0ipo&dl=0

@johnny-s How did you extract the streams? Using VEGAS? If not I don't think it would show a problem as there isn't a general issue with audio in VEGAS or anything wrong with the source file. I also don't hear any issue with the extracted audio.

johnny-s wrote on 9/16/2025, 5:17 AM

I extracted as 2 seperate streams outside of VP using ffmpeg based batch file. Copy no encoding.

To clarify.. I didn't hear any pops on playback using op's file within vp23.

The extracting audio files is just a workaround suggestion. I'd expect them to have no issues.

Confirmed that the audio "clicking" is in track 2. I can hear it clearly on my computer monitors. Annoying for sure.

@rafa-jakubowski if you re-read VEGASDerek's reply, it does not read that ...

5 - Instead of checking, I first receive vague answers that the file is damaged, then threats about removing my account, and then claims that the file was not even saved with this program.

What was written (and maybe this is a language barrier? Is your native language English?) was

"A link to a file telling it how it sounds really does not help us out. The sound is corrupted...I will take your word for that. Without a sample file which we can reproduce the problem with, we really cannot expect to help you out."

Your file, which you provided and others concur that the audio isn't playing back as it should, is what was requested and needed, that's all.

Really? I just tried on my laptop speakers and also hear it- it's like static in the background.

johnny-s wrote on 9/16/2025, 8:29 AM

I tried again on my laptop and main PC. Cannot hear any popping sound.

Any chance @RogerS or @Reyfox could render out clip then I can check it outside of vp?

@johnny-s I rendered the video, but it has copyright music in it. I am uploading to Youtube and hope that I can list it as Unlisted.

Here is a to it. You can clearly hear it at the beginning. When the music gets louder, the clicking gets lost in the volume of the music.

Let me know when done so I can remove it from Youtube.

That didn't work... off to Google Drive!
