Not sure, I'll mention the limitation to the developers. In the mean time, convert them to Magix Intermediate, or any other format of your choosing using VEGAS, then feed them in. That should get you working. Can you specify the exact drone this footage is from? Can you upload a sample clip?

How can i upload the file in a way that will allow you to download?

Google drive is a good spot, if you have a gmail account, you already have 15GB of free storage space. Then you just right click on the file after uploading, select "get sharable link", and paste that link here.

You need to use a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, WeTransfer or something else.

I don't use Vegas Effects, but your file opens perfect without any problem in my Vegas Pro 18

That file doesn't work in HitFilm Pro either. So I think this type just is not supported in HitFilm/Vegas Effects.

Reyfox wrote on 8/13/2020, 4:33 AM

I don't have VE, but like @Marco. I tried to import the file into Hitfilm Pro 15 and get an "!" when in Hitfilm.

Ouch....

Install Quicktime.

Hitfilm/VEGAS Effects won't open some MP4s/Movs without it.

This doesn't help, neither does rewrapping to MP4. Afaik, HEVC is just not yet supported by HitFilm.

Mohammed_Anis wrote on 8/13/2020, 7:21 AM

Ah, it's HEVC.

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 8/13/2020, 10:02 AM

@Lamont-Scott You might try installing the Microsoft HEVC codec ... I keep a downloadable copy here. Or download it interactively from the Microsoft Store. I know it helps with apps like VLC and Resolve.

Lamont-Scott wrote on 8/13/2020, 11:40 AM

Yeah its a h.265 MOV file. I'll try to install quicktime to see if that matters! Thanks for all the help!

Marco. wrote on 8/13/2020, 11:54 AM

As mentioned above HitFilm Pro (and so Vegas Effects) just doesn't support HEVC, no matter if Quicktime is installed or not.

So I guess I made a mistake. Seems as Filmora is supporting these files without an issue.

What does that have to do with Vegas Post/Hitfilm Pro? Filmora isn't compositing software.

Byron-Smith wrote on 1/11/2021, 9:42 PM

I have been trying to import MP4 files that are from my Mavic 2 Pro into Movie Studio and getting the same results. I suspect HEVC is simply not supported across the entire product line.

RogerS wrote on 1/11/2021, 9:53 PM

I'm confused as Filmora is from Wondershare in Shenzhen, and FX Home (Hit Film, Vegas Post) is from the UK.

Anyway J-v reported this file works in Vegas Pro 18. VP 18 does support HEVC, if not all varieties of it. No idea about Movie Studio as I don't use it.
