Makes perfect sense to me! My background with Vegas is mostly on the audio side and have been getting more and more into the Video editing aspects. So all these additional video tools and plugins of what they can and can't do or how I would use them is a big black hole of knowledge I'm trying to wrap my head around and when purchasing ensure I'm getting the tools which make my life easier and less frustrating as I'm trying to learn how to do the things I would like to do in the creation process. I've always leaned towards purchasing plugins separately, directly from the 3rd party developers because things have never quite worked out when they come bundled together with the host programs in regards to future proof and I hate the thought of taking on that learning curve of spending a lot of time figuring out how to best use these additional tools, only for them to no longer work or be available when it comes time to upgrade the host program.

Can you find us the side-by-side feature comparison of all those products, so those of us shopping to purchase know exactly what is and isn't included in each product offering, thus the reason there's confusion and my post?

While we're at it, might as well include "Vegas Movie Studio", "Vegas Movie Studio Platinum", and "VEGAS Movie Studio Suite". Magix has created so many different versions of "Vegas" that potential customers can't even figure out what each one has compared to the other.

There's now 9 different versions of "Vegas" video editing software packages and nowhere with a side-by-side comparison of what each one includes and doesn't include compared to the other and as customers we're left on our own to figure them all out. Unfortunately some of us are not familiar enough with each of these 9 different combination of names aside from their slight differences in names to make an informed purchase decision.

The crazy thing was that I was debating between purchasing "Vegas Pro" vs "Vegas Post Suite", then just learned the only thing different between "Vegas Pro Edit" and "Vegas Pro" is that the "Edit" version costs $100 less and doesn't include Sound Forge Pro 14....where I already own Sound Forge Pro 15. I almost was going to purchase the older version of Sound Forge Pro 14 for an additional $100 by purchasing my typical "Vegas Pro" version which I obviously wouldn't need. I guess Magix considers this the bundle and save sales strategy, but it seems more like the bundle and confuse your customers sales strategy.

Vegas Movie Studio $49.99

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum $79.99, but now $49.99

Vegas Movie Studio Suite $119, but now $79.99

First you should know, the core software is Vegas Pro which is the subsequent versions what you used form Vegas 1.0. But there is also a sale bundle named "Vegas Pro". They are different two things.

Vegas Pro Edit (sale bundle) = Vegas Pro (the core software) + occasional small gifts ( Boris Continuum 2020 Title Studio, Film Style Unit )

Vegas Pro (sale bundle) = Vegas Pro (the core software) + Sound Forge Pro 14 + occasional small gifts ( Boris Continuum 2020 Title Studio, Film Style Unit )

Vegas Pro Suite (sale bundle) = Vegas Pro (the core software) + Sound Forge Pro 14 + Some 3rd-party plugin units ( ActionVFX Action Pack ; Boris Continuum v2020.5 Film Style Unit, Image Restoration Unit, Particles Unit ; NewBlue Transitions 5 Unit ; UNVEIL Zynaptiq VEGAS Edition ) + occasional small gifts ( Boris Continuum 2020 Title Studio, Film Style Unit )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So as you see, the difference among the three sale bundles is that :

Vegas Pro (sale bundle) - Vegas Pro Edit (sale bundle) = Sound Forge Pro 14 ;

Vegas Pro Suite (sale bundle) - Vegas Pro (sale bundle) = 3rd-party plugins or overlays ;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Vegas Post Suite?

Vegas Post Suite (sale bundle) = Vegas Pro (the core software) + Vegas Effects + Vegas Image + Sound Forge Pro + occasional small gifts ( Action VFX Clip Pack )

Sound Forge, Vegas Effects and Vegas Image are standalone but can be used inside Vegas Pro (the core software).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So apparently, Vegas Post Suite is the most powerful bundle among above. Especially Vegas Effects, it itself contains tons of FX&presets and the composite features like 3D model importing, Particle system, Keyframe graph, OFX plugins support, and so on.

Here is what the 9 download managers are offering as of today:

And one by one...

VEGAS Movie Studio 17:

VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Platinum:

VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Suite:

VEGAS Pro 18 Edit:

VEGAS Pro 18:

VEGAS Pro 18 Suite:

VEGAS POST Suite:

VEGAS Stream Pro 365:

VEGAS Stream POST 365:

Note that this isn't always the whole picture. Occasionally a VEGAS purchase might be bundled with an extra application "Included as part of this offer". In those cases the download link will be via email rather than via the download manager.

Some links that may be helpful. I usually update them within a day of becoming aware of an update. The dates in the first post of the release history posts help understand the release cycle.

Thanks all, I appreciate the additional information. At this point I have it figured out.

The confusion was due to there are 9 (actually 11 Vegas effects+Vegas Image) different names of Vegas with only slight differences in name variations. The Core FULL FUNCTIONAL software in the past was always "Vegas Pro" and is now essentially "Vegas Pro Edit". "Vegas Post Suite" was not included anywhere on the Magix website product feature comparisons, hopefully Magix is in the process of updating this feature comparison matrix to include it. I therefore thought "Vegas Pro Suite" was the top offering package which was shown on the feature comparison as such and showed it included additional Boris plugins and therefore assumed it also included the Vegas Effects and Vegas Image which were discussed on the forum of now being included with the top Vegas offering.

Just in my opinion, this type of customer confusion could have been more easily avoided if Magix wouldn't have created all these different slight variations in names for a single product and named them more specific to what they actually are. Vegas Pro + Bundle Package as such.

Vegas Pro Edit= Vegas Pro

Vegas Pro= Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 1 (Sound Forge Pro 14)

Vegas Pro Suite= Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 2 (Sound Forge Pro 14 + Additional Pro Video Plugins)

Vegas POST Suite= Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 3 (Sound Forge Pro 14 + Vegas Effects + Vegas Image)

Vegas Stream Pro 365= Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 4 (Sound Forge Pro 14 + Online Storage and Subscription model Updates)

Vegas Stream Post 365= Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 5 (Sound Forge Pro 14 + Online Storage and Subscription Model Updates+ Vegas Effect+Vegas Image)

I'll avoid commenting on the "Vegas Movie Studio" packages since I'm not familiar enough with them but seems like another area of compounded confusion. At this time, I am unable to tell you a summary difference between "Vegas Movie Studio Platinum" and "Vegas Pro Edit" because a side-by-side feature comparison doesn't seem to exist on the Magix product offering website for a customer to be able to do so without spending hours digging through each product and creating their own side-by-side feature comparisons.

I'll also add, with all those different names and bundle packages there are none that excite me because a majority of them include SF 14 Pro, which isn't even the latest offering of Sound Forge and I've already upgraded to the latest SF 15 Pro but SF14 has obviously been included in the majority of packages to get more customers used to working with Sound Forge. The bundle I would be most interested in is Vegas Pro Edit + Bundle 6 (Vegas Effects + Vegas Image + Pro Video Plugins). Does it make sense to make yet another name variation of "Vegas Pro Post Suite"?

I didn't understand prior to this post if Vegas Effects and Vegas image were some type of plugin package or stand alone programs. I understand now they are stand alone programs which have close integration to work with Vegas. However, what's further disappointing is that Vegas Effects and Vegas Image can't be purchased separately, so I could start with purchasing Vegas Edit and purchase these separately but then again I am uncertain if these would work with Vegas Edit since all information currently states you need to get the "Vegas Post Suite" to be able to use these additional programs. Just overall, highly disappointed with all the different Vegas naming variance confusion and lack of flexibility of purchasing what some of us may actually want being provided in these bundle packages. At least at this point I better understand what I would be purchasing, or more so with these current scenario offerings not purchasing.

I havent tried the Borisfx Titler. They dont give it with the trial. But I played with the Vegas Effects. You can make your own titles and a bunch of stuff. But its a very big learning curve.

With the Vegas Post suite you can make your own title animations (again you have to learn it and it doesnt look easy after playing with it a few days). I am also thinking of just buying the NewBlue FX Titler Pro 7 for whichever Vegas one I chose. I hear that one is easy (i dont want to spend the extra money, but i value my sanity and just dont want to stress while learning: if that makes sense)

Thanks for providing the link to the discussion at FXhome forums, that was really helpful in getting me up to speed on what Vegas Effects and Image really are. I'm sure I must be overlooking some things at this point but from my current understanding it seems like Vegas Effects is just Hitfilm Pro without a timeline editor, and included Hitfilm Pro plugins or plugin support, nothing special as far as intergration if I were to purchase Hitfilm Pro separately.

After doing further research, watching YouTube tutorials and such, here's where I'm at with all this.

I decided the current Vegas Pro/Post 18 "Suite" options are likely not for me. The inclusion and close integration of Vegas Effects, as well as the Boris plugins are what originally peaked my interest with the V18 Suites but seeing it's an either or choice with the different Vegas Suite options, I lost half my interest.

Then further digging into what Vegas Pro 18 provides over Vegas Pro 17, where new feature additions are always welcome but seem to be mostly things I don't see myself gaining much benefit from in VP18.

Overall, I think I'm going to stick with Vegas Pro 17 especially after taking into consideration VP18 has been out for some time, but there still seems to have some significant issues with the latest releases (based on research anyways). My current thought I'm going to further explore is that I downloaded Hitfilm Express (Free version) which seems quite powerful for my intended uses and start using that with VP17. Then once I get more familiar with working back and forth between VP17 and HF Express and trying out HF Express titling features, then possibly invest in NewBlue Titler Pro for my Titling uses.

Maybe if Magix ever decides to update some of the audio features in Vegas, such as adding VST3 plugin and current H/W external controller support for Vegas, then I'll upgrade my version of Vegas to that new release but it's kind of feeling like business as usual from the Sony days, where audio features tend to get neglected. Maybe they could even borrow some code from their other programs such as Acid Pro which has VST3 plugin support.

Thanks for your help. Any thoughts or experience on that combo of VP17, Hitfilm Express and NewBlue Titler Pro?

Vegas Stream feedback: Vegas Stream does not support 1080p 60fps output. This is pretty standard in competitor software.
