REF 64 Bit. You guys should read this sticky.

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=816049&Replies=0

it has been up there a while. Vegas will only be in 64 bit from now on.

Is this a free upgrade for the Pro 11 users? If not, this is just plain insulting. No patch for 11 and all of its problem..

1. No stability.
2. GPU support is spotty.
3. Stabilization is broken.

No upgrade for me. I'm moving NLEs, but will continue to use 10 until I get out of the editing hole.

Guess it pays to read huh

flacnvinyl an update to Vegas Pro 11 was released a couple of days ago.

That's quite a list of "Known Issues" already. Good to know going in.
flacnvinyl wrote on 9/26/2012, 5:27 PM
The update did not fix the stabilization plugin or many other problems.

I just to an email saying that it is 139.95 for upgrade download till the end of October, but when I log into my account it tells me that it is a lot more expensive (about double) perhaps because I am in Japan and my account is in yen. Does this mean that sony operates a policy where it is more expensive for people in Japan?

UPDATE

I went to submit a support question about this and found that on the final screen, after I have clicked send question, a popup window says, wait before you submit your support request read this, and they offer the usual links to the knowledge base and also an update link which has the reduced price 10890 yen or about 140USD. The only way I could get to this price is via the support system! I have it in my shopping cart so I am fixed.

And anyway I would like native support for P2 so this could be the time to upgrade from Pro 8. I am not sure what I have missed in the meantime but I have heard flaky things about P11 and another in between. Is P12 the version to move to?

In the past I have always taken up the early adopter offer for every version of VP. V11 was stable for me (except for just one instance of "replaced clips" on the timeline), but having read the woes of others throughout the life-cycle of the release, I think I'll sit on V12 until the last day or so of the offer.

I'll just watch this forum and glean info from the more experienced users and then use that to decide whether I'll upgrade at all. I'm not even sure whether I'll even download the trial software.

Good luck to all those whom are having a crack at V12.

Cheers

I've been working with 12 all day today and throwing all the tricks I know of that will throw it off (freeze, hang, crash) and none of it has yet happened. All the render temps that used to fail, fail no more, the time code's key framer once again works, switching back and forth between two apps which I do all day long never crashes Vegas anymore, Vegas never carashes while shutting down, never freezes when scrubbing too fast... I paid the first price that was quoted and have no fear that I won't get my & 50 bonus refunded, because it has happened to me twice before and each time I got the refund....

My two bits of a good first day. As soon as something goes wrong, I'll let you know. No need to download the trial offer -- go for it, it's a solid release as far as I have experienced... today.

Paul, have you tried NewBlue Titler Pro yet? It crashed on me. Also BBC8 Type on Text tool caused Vegas 12 to crash as well. Not having much luck with text tools.

If you compare Vegas pro 12 and pro 12 edit on Sony's Vegas family comparison at.
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/compare
I see two differences. Pro 12 edit No DVD Architect which we already knew  and they eliminated
Dolby 5.1 surround and stereo AC-3 encoding or could this be an error on their end.

I received an email from Sony today for the upgrade price of $139.95 for Vegas Pro 12 that comes with DVD-A which we have. I was hoping like most of you they would offer Vegas Pro 12 edit for a lower upgrade price being we all have DVD-A but if Pro edit is missing Dolby 5.1 surround and stereo AC-3 encoding that's another story.

BCC OFX 8.1 has the choice of installing in Vegas 12. Don't know if this info will be of uses to those getting BCC crash.

Leee,

NBTitler never worked well for my specific needs so I have stuck with Legacy, which is solid as a rock. It's a plugin and they don't seem to have everything ironed out yet. I have hundreds of text files on projects that are 30 minutes long to one hour and never once had a problem with Legacy..

Not the most auspicious start .... Opened my new V12, footage on to timeline, press spacebar ...

"An error occurred while starting playback. The request is not enabled for this device."

I realise that in adding new features some old ones may have to make way, but playback would have been quite useful.

Back to "trusty" V11.

edit: The good news is that rebooting Windows fixed this one ....

new edit" well, it works for new projects, but opening some V11 projects in V12 still no playback ...

anybody try the adobe premiere after fx import export feature yet? I tried the trial but all it does is import files and asks for a file that doesn't even exist to be located
Chienworks wrote on 9/26/2012, 10:50 PM
Jerry, Dolby 5.1 and AC-3 have always come from DVD-Architect, not from Vegas. So this is a predictable, if not desirable outcome.

I had my first experience with the return of an old bug this morning: the damned cursor freeze glitch. Too bad. Does anyone have a workaround to make it move again, or is closing and opening Vegas the only cure?

Point to remember, version 12 being a 64bit application will give errors when trying to open older VEG files that included 3rd party 32bit FX's.

Has anyone tried to install V12 on a 32bit OS yet? Does it give a warning or errors?

Vegas v12 is now a native 64-bit application, it will not install on a 32-bit OS.

Is there a reason why there isn't an offer to upgrade from Movie Studio to Vegas Pro Edit ?
