Vegas Pro 14 Crashes while rendering

mats-tweelix wrote on 5/7/2017, 6:17 PM

It happens every time and it happens on both my laptop and my desktop

Things I've tried and didn't work: GPU Acceleration Disabled, Dynamic Memory set to 0, Maximum Threads set to 0, Enable Multi-core rendering for playback set to FALSE

Here's the error log

Does it crash at the same time every time? Does rendering to a different format solve the problem? Many times there is a bad piece of media and that causes a crash.

Hey Sorry for not replying sooner. I got cought up with some work.

I've tried everything in the FAQ 16 about crashing during rendering.
It always seems to crash after rendering about 3-5 seconds of video.

I've tried different formats and that didn't help either.

One thing that did work is splitting my project into small 3 second sections and rendering each section individually with Vegasaur Transcoder. However it is then almost impossible to join the clips back together after due to the slight empty space at the beginning and end of the rendered clips which, for a music based project like this, is not really an option.

One interresting thing that happened however is that sometimes instead of crashing it would say the program had run out of memory. Maybe that can give someone a clue as to what is wrong here.

If anyone is interested below is the mediainfo for one of the clips used. All the clips are in exactly the same format so I don't know if that's the problem.

Hope someone can find me a solution because this is really frustrating at this point. I don't even care if it takes 3 weeks to render I just want it to actually finish.

The input file is x265 codec. I'm not sure Vegas handles that.

178 Kb/s is an extremely low bitrate. It looks like the input file came out of Handbrake. If you are the one who ran the file through Handbrake, try using the original file as input.

Also, what output template are you rendering to, and what is the target bitrate?

The source files appear to be HEVC from Handbrake. Is it possible that you have (or could acquire) the video in some other form? Prior to Handbrake encode?

Yeah unfortunately the original files are VP8 Webm files which Vegas pro definitely doesn't like. I could try to convert them all to something else however. Which format/tools would you guys recommend?

The reason I used x265 is because originally I had used x264 and there was some weird flickering issues when several videos were playing simultaneously. Using x265 fixed that problem for me.

I mean the video plays fairly well in preview (apart from the occasional crash)

For output templates I've tried Mainconcept AVC Internet 1080p 30fps and the Corresponding Sony AVC template. As well as a bunch of others but no luck with any of them.

Before you note I'm rendering to 1080p when my input files are 360p that's because multiple videos are always playing side by side.
