Where did the file come from?

- Run the WAVE file through MediaInfo and post the results.

- Try re-saving the file with another name.

- Try copying the data to a new Wave file and saving that.

It can be a new wave file created in Sound Forge or one that came from the Sound Effects Collection that came with VP 13, it doesn't really seem to matter. Saving the file with a different name works occasionally, but not consistently. I don't know if it happened after installing Windows Updates or if it was always like that because I usually don't add many audio files to my projects. I had noticed audio files getting glitched at the start, so I upgraded to build 270 and it seemed to have fixed the glitching, after that is when it started importing blank files. I tried saving them at different sampling rates also. Here is what MediaInfo gives me.

General

The file info specs appear normal.

I assume longer duration files exhibit the same behavior?

Though it should not matter (at least in Vegas), are the file's sample rate and Vegas audio properties set the same?

Have you tried rebuilding the file's peaks (waveform)? "View> Rebuild peaks", or deleting the file's <.sfk> companion?

The only other thing I can currently think of is, repair install or uninstall/reinstall.

Is it really 493 milliseconds long?

Yes, length or sampling rate doesn't seem to matter.

Yes.

Yes.

I figured that when I upgraded from the previous build to 270 it should have been like a repair or reinstall.

For now I am just going to live with having to use Ogg files, everything else is running stable at the moment. Maybe someday when I have some spare time I will try to isolate it to a DLL or Plug-in.

Have you tried a different device driver? Windows Classic Wave Driver. Microsoft Sound Mapper is the default I think.
