Just went to try Vegas 14 and still waiting on a trial key thats gone to no where. I trhinnk its come time for me to DUMP vegas and move on to another product. - can't run a straight trial without issue - The increased pricing is a backward step and sand in the eye to old users - Get an email saying upgrade price before Oct 16. What it gets more expensive? - the # features is barely reason to upgrade especially with this license nonsense.
The upgrade price for Vegas Pro is $100 more than Sony's upgrade price. Sony's upgrade price for the first month for Vegas Pro was $149, after that it reverted to $249. I have been purchasing upgrades since Vegas v2 when it was a Sonic Foundary product. I was afraid it would be bad news that Sony sold it and now the new owners are rewarding loyal users with a 66% price increase.
What are the upgrade prices going to on the 17th of october.
Finally got trial running (18 day trial) and within minutes Vegas crashes.
I believe the full suite upgrade is $349.
Crashes: It sounds to me like nothing has changed for Vegas. I have purchased three different versions and ALL of them crash. With each new version I hoped that the crashes would be fixed. I was even hopeful that version 14 might be that magic one that would fix this ongoing problem that has made my editing difficult for so many years. I guess I'll be looking for something else. Thanks.

We still use 10 as it's been fairly solid. Bought 12 but didn't use it much. Purchased 14 now and are still hopeful we can get more productive use out of it than 10... I like some of the new FX and am willing to give it a shot, but there definitely are some stability issues holding us back. Trying to hold out on a move to Premier or Resolve.. hopefully the next Vegas build may help with some of the performance issues.
Probably because you're either not using media or FX that cause crashes, or you're using the very recent build (178) that fixes the major cause of crashes.

and a video card who's CUDA processing is still supported.
I haven't seen *any* notifications about a new release, or patches.
I'd love to also see a running list of high priority CSRs (customer service requests) that are being worked on, so we have something to look forward to as some users are considering jumping ship. I worked in the software industry for 16 years and we always had a good service request tracking system, as well as a detailed change reprot of what was fixed or changed in each release.
14 working well here. Doing an 47 minute tv feature and so far no crashes. DO not understand why so many are complaining.
So because it works fine for you that means we do not have a legitimate complaint. I have tried so many things to resolve the crashes and Sony didn't care in the least about addressing it. They made a few feable attempts but with each new upgrade the problem persisted. Not only that but I had multiple computers with various versions of Windows and there was no difference. Please note that I am an IT professional with over two decades experience and even after building an incredible new computer with blazing fast components and Windows 10 Pro with a fresh install of SVP the crashes still continue. My belief is that NewBlue Titler Pro is the real culprit.
I am willing to try version 14 but not for $349. I e-mailed them and other than an automated response they have ignored my message.
It is impressive as it has been technologically developed Vegas in these years. I use it since 2004 to subtitling short films and I must say that Vegas is an essential tool for multimedia workers. Congratulations
Today, I was in the process of trying out Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. The reason is that I have finally had enough with Sony Vegas Pro 11 and the constant crashes. I was looking for others like Edius and saw something about Vegas Pro 14 which surprised me because I heard the product was dead. I am interested but there are three things that would hold me back from upgrading: 1) Ongoing crashes (usually from NewBlue plug-ins). 2) The reputation of Magix (I've owned a number of their products and have not been impressed). 3) The HIGH PRICE. DaVinci Resolve doesn't cost anything. For the $349 price tag for the Suite I would rather look at the other options or just continue using Vegas Pro 11. I can get my work done between the crashes. I need assurances and a much better price. Thank you.
I'm using Resolve 12.5 for colour correction and am getting pretty impressed with the software. For my needs the editing features it has look to be more than enough, and like you say, the price is right. I use Vegas for editing still because I'm so used to it, but I'm going to start using Resolve more for editing too.
