So I bought the version 13 upgrade a couple months ago, which included a free upgrade to version 14 when it came out, but I can't figure out how to download and activate it. Any ideas?

Hello,

I just download VEGAS PRO 14 and the first opening is a crash in my audio plug-in, so I moved temporarily to open my file VEGAS, then no PRORES 4:2:2 reading as promised because not play PRORES my files, I have sound but no picture !!! the rest is TOP I use vegas since version 3 and I confess to know that all the bugs are completed is a huge relief because VEGAS is an amazing tool so thank you to the developers and the MAGIX team, lack more than to integrate a true 3D with realistic FX;-).
Thank you

Which version of the upgrade. The main difference for the Suite appears to be the add-ons. How does the Boris Chroma key compare to the basic in Vegas, but more so to other options (cost $299 stand alone). Also the Rev 3 of the titling?  The motion detection video looked convincing (esp for my goPro). Reviews, thoughts?

Hello Emmanuel,

Your file is XDCAM, not ProRes. You will need Quicktime and a plugin like http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/Products/XDDecodeV2/QXD.php for that file.

emmanuel wrote on 9/22/2016, 2:33 AM

Hi Ottor,

Oupss

actually it is a mistake on my part I put a file in XDCAM VEGAS, not a PRORES so everything is ok !!! But the problem is therefore covers a little silly XDCAM files suddenly not be able to read files in the non format?

Thank you for your answers and lively VEGAS PRO.
For owners of Vegas 13 is there a special rate for the update 14?

thank you,

emmanuel

It is located in the menu when you are editing. Once you click on it, it then will ask you to unlock / update it. Put in the Key that was in your email.... Then you have access to it. But only in Vegas Pro 14.

Hope that helps.

I have Vegas Pro 14. Works well.
Intel HEVC assist for UHD is a big plus.
One problem: My original clips are 25fps UHD ex Sony FDR-AX33, and I am simply rendering at same frame rate and resolution to HEVC, but playing the render is jerky. (Still investigating, as do not get this issue with other NLMs.)
====Sorry, new to this, will place in another part of forum====

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 9/29/2016, 4:43 PM

@beej -- my playback is pretty jerky in Vegas14 too -- it seems to me maybe the "auto" playback mode is switching more frequently than it used to from half to full frame playback.. it's wierd.. framerate jumps WAY more than it used to varying between 29 and 16fps on the same clip.

Today, I was in the process of trying out Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. The reason is that I have finally had enough with Sony Vegas Pro 11 and the constant crashes. I was looking for others like Edius and saw something about Vegas Pro 14 which surprised me because I heard the product was dead. I am interested but there are three things that would hold me back from upgrading: 1) Ongoing crashes (usually from NewBlue plug-ins). 2) The reputation of Magix (I've owned a number of their products and have not been impressed). 3) The HIGH PRICE. DaVinci Resolve doesn't cost anything. For the $349 price tag for the Suite I would rather look at the other options or just continue using Vegas Pro 11. I can get my work done between the crashes. I need assurances and a much better price. Thank you.

We are in the same boat.

I had no issues paying $349 for the suite -- a fair price for solid software to run our businesses.

do take issue with having major productivity decline since using V14.  I left Pinnacle years ago because I couldn't count on it when in time crunches -- Vegas was solid.  VERY solid (relatively) and I could count on it.  But not now -- crashing and bugs waste time -- precious time.

Like you, Premiere and Resolve are interesting to me.. just haven't taken the time to really evaluate them.  I guess I'm still hopeful we can continue working in Vegas for our projects.  Losing confidence.. will probably go back to using V10 until that changes.

I do not appreciate that you changed what I wrote. I wrote: "I can get my work done between the crashes. I need assurances and a much better price. Thank you." I did NOT write "can't." If you're going to quote me please quote me correctly. Thanks.

To be clear: If they will not give a reasonable price of around $199 for the upgrade then I will not be upgrading and will continue to use Sony Vegas Pro 11, even with the crashes, or find another product. I simply can't afford to pay $349. I hope MAGIX is listening but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 10/3/2016, 7:50 AM

Ohh.. sorry about that!

I thought it was a typo, saying that because of the crashes in 14, you couldn't get your work done and justify the upgrade cost.

Again, my appology for the misquote.
