As always, feel free to share your feedback. We appreciate it a lot!.

Really????

First, correct the old known bugs. There are many of them. We send bug reports to your team - unexpected program termination, editing errors, tearing preview, Ignored new GPU, etc. Stop ignoring us. Thank you!

It's year 2017 but Vegas is still a dinosaur. 😡

Hm. I have been using Sony Vegas, professionally since Vegas 5....14 is (by far) the most stable user experience I have had with the software. So many bugs that persisted through 10-12 have been finally fixed. I could not be happier, and happy to see the program under new management.

Congratulations to the team from me.

Yes, 2017 but Vegas is still a dinosaur. Without support full to RED Cinema cameras, no RedLogFilm.

In the submission form for the Sundance Film Festival under "What editing software did you use in the making of this film" it gave a very short multiple selections list of NLEs without even listing "other":

Avid, Final Cut, Premiere, Vegas ... all dinosaurs.

Lukasz wrote on 7/9/2017, 10:52 AM

There is something about it. I bought Ryzen 7 1700X and tested After effects, adobe premiere, edius and everything works smoothly and vegas 13 can crop the preview. So something has to do with dinosaurs :)

pierre-k wrote on 7/10/2017, 7:32 AM

Yes I agree. Vegas is brilliant, intuitive and well cut in it.
Thanks to Sonic Foundry. Not Sony or Magix.

Innovation is missing.

- Internal Motion Tracking like Mocha or Magix Video Pro X
- 3D text  and 3D tracking in internal ProType Titler and Titler
- Different color of each letter in the internal Titler
- Innovative internal Optical flow slowmotion like Twixtor or Edius
- innovative Chroma key
- Depth of Field in 3D tracking
- new Time Stretch + Ctrl range 0 - 1000% (not 25 - 400%)
- Innovative audio internal Comp and Maximizer plugins like Waves l316, and reverb and echo as Replica XT
- Support for new Nvidia GPUs when editing in timeline
- Removing old bugs
- innovative Catalyst design

Vegas has its original style of editing and that's good. It's easier than Premiere, Avid, and more.  But without a third party plugin is like a dinosaur.

Im Sorry English :-)

Exactly as a colleague wrote 100% of the truth. I just read that it is about time to go out vegas 15 interesting whether it will be as unstable as 13 and 14. Dear magix we use professional software where every user should have the support and stability of the program at the highest level. In vegas it does not give us that. Time is probably to pour one version into pain and only then to start a new phase of work on a newer version. We will pay for the program and the stability of the program as there was no such thing. Where is the logic here? The customer happy returns and the dissatisfied goes to the competition.

"Thanks to Sonic Foundry. Not Sony or Magix."

Agreed!!!

"Who are we????????" LOL!!!

Well I for one would pay just to have the Dolby Pro encoder reinstated!!! LOL!!!

The most comical quote of all on this thread:

"As always, feel free to share your feedback. We appreciate hearing from you!"

Yeh right. So far I don't see one but of input from MAGIX other than the very first post on this thread!!!

Dale.

I've been using Vegas Pro since V9. I own 14 but have not been able to use it because of the constant crashing. SVP 12 is perfectly stable - I have not had a crash in many man-months of use.

My workflow is simple amateur stuff - fade transitions, a few titles, some tweaks to saturation. I, like others, will never use Adobe because of the hostageware model, so Vegas is all there is for me. I'm worried that MVP 15 is looming with all the bugs still present in MVP 14... so please, please PLEASE devote time to fixing the crashes!

It would be helpfull if you could be more specific, if possible.

For example:

- What kind of footage are you editing?

- Are there specific steps where you see that the application crashes?

- What are the specification of your PC?

There has been a significant amount of bug fixes in the 7 updates of Vegas Pro 15, but obviously the bugs that you see where not fixed. But without becoming more specific it will be hard for the development team to reproduce address those bugs.

With the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition GPU enabled, the video clips displays a blue hue throughout the footage.

Hi Wolfgang,

The footage is all AVCHD 1.0 OR 2.0 in an .mp4 container. Source is GoPro or Sony or Panny. Videos are anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours. System specs are irrelevant because of details below.

It crashes in different places. While editing, while rendering. There is no pattern, it might go for a day, or it might crash several times in quick succession.

All versions of SVP had the problem until an update was issued that was stable. SVP 12 final build (.770?), is 100% stable. SVP 13 and MVP are unstable, with the exact same projects that are fine with 12.

I send the crash reports each time. But eventually I give up and go back to 12. It's horrible to leave a long project rendering overnight to see a crash in the morning. I'm not a beta tester!

Doesn't anyone look at the crash reports?

Steve

Ok, that is a first indication - but unfortunately an indication only.

System specs are irrelevant because of details below.

Since we do not now what causes your crashes, system specs could be the most relevant key to repro the crashes. Remember, you see only the behaviour with your machine - but other users (like me) see a pretty stable system for both Vegas Pro 13 but also Vegas Pro 14. But it is hard to say by now where the differences are.

It crashes in different places. While editing, while rendering. There is no pattern, it might go for a day, or it might crash several times in quick succession.

That are bad news. Because without any pattern it will be hard to reproduce the issue, and if it cannot be reproduced it will be impossible to fix it.

All versions of SVP had the problem until an update was issued that was stable. SVP 12 final build (.770?), is 100% stable. SVP 13 and MVP are unstable, with the exact same projects that are fine with 12.

That is another interesting point. Do you use any GPU acceleration, and have you tried to disable that?

I send the crash reports each time. But eventually I give up and go back to 12. It's horrible to leave a long project rendering overnight to see a crash in the morning. I'm not a beta tester!

Doesn't anyone look at the crash reports?

I cannot answer that really - since I am not part of the internal development team.

About the crash reports: Don't use the send button to send such reports! Instead, attach the crash dump to your support ticket. Further infos here.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 7/14/2017, 8:34 AM

Yes, we can only suggest to open a support ticket (follow the link by Marco) and see if the support can help.

yes. plus no support for 360 videos. no offense, but I bought vegas pro 14 before it was launched after seeing a deal, expecting a modern and powerful video editor. so far I have yet to use it once, because the first video job I came across was when I bought a new 360 camera. then I found out my $600 dollar video editor didn't have support for 360 video, but Magix cheaper software did. I am afraid I wasted $600, then they will come at me to upgrade to Vegas Pro 15 to get the 360 support..

every other major video editor has it already for the last year. cyberlink, premier, pinnacle, etc. wtf.

Hello, I have noticed in the media generators tab that my titles & text are not working. The text can be dropped in but there are no effects that can be added to the text! The drop down box says (none). Why is this happening?

Do you mean by effects the presets (see attached snapshot)?

I performed the update and the presets are still there.

The names of all the presets are there and the font treatments, but no animation at all. What am I missing?

bill-johns wrote on 8/22/2017, 12:11 PM

WOW! Thank you! That did it.

Vegas 14 is the most unstable app 've ever used, I've had Vegas since V7 and loved it until now. I feel robbed by Magix not just of my money but I feel robbed of Vegas future releases because I have lost any motivation to stick with the program. Now 15 is out and they want nearly 300 Aus for an upgrade, I'm still bruised from the last disaster... why would I do anything but return the insult you dealt me, Magix?

I don't want to change NLE , but I can't see any other option... Magix, you have lost my trust and you want even MORE money ? What for? Broken , faulty, featureless updates that crash more than a derby car? Dream!

Ok... and did you already tried download the trial of Vegas Pro 15 and see how it performs now?

I did and it was much better..... but I'm not getting conned like that, I paid for Vegas 14, if they can't make it work they should give those who paid for that faulty upgrade a free pass to 15 ... or patch it. What Magix have done doesn't buy loyalty, just distrust and suspicion I don't give my money to con artists. What they did here was release one version as two half versions... are Vegas users really that stupid or willing to throw money around like confetti? I'm pretty angry about being left in the lurch with V14 while Magix tries to strong arm me for a stable version at inflated prices.

rasmus-dahl-sorensen wrote on 9/16/2017, 4:31 AM

I must admit that I'm very annoyed at the fact that MAGIX releases Vegas 15 without fixing bugs that are fundamental showstoppers in Vegas Pro 14.

- Often I cannot close a just saved project without Vegas 14 hanging indefinitely.

- I cannot import media from another Vegas 14 project without the software hanging indefinitely.

- Cookie cutter - using Animate mode and changing size over time, the keyframes are easily lost if other paramers are changed. If you close the Cookie Cutter window and click the "Media Fx" option again, the Cookie Cutter disappears from the chain.

How can such basic bugs be overlooked? I have modern hardware (Skylake), 16 GB RAM and fast SSDs on Windows 10. No plugins other than the ones built into Vegas Pro 14.

At least MAGIX could do loyal customers (I have been with Vegas since version 10) the courtesy to fix flaws like these. MAGIX, please comment on this. Give me a few reasons to update to Vegas 15 if the outlook is not having MAGIX fixing bugs like these before adding new features.

set wrote on 9/16/2017, 5:07 AM

Rasmus,

Unfortunately the bugs you listed didn't happened to me so far I'm using VP14 for a year... so probably it is also not easy for Vegas team recreate or repro this issue.

So far for a year I help moderate this forum, the important key to them is the ability to be able to reproduce the issue of crashes.

Really Set? How helpful. You are great support to the company 'cough' I mean community.

I guess if you didn't see them, they either didn't happen or it is user error.. Is that what you think?

Luckily I sent dozens of crash reports, so it doesn't matter what you think.
