Vegas Pro 15 and Xiaomi Yi 4k+ audio issue

bryan-quarrie wrote on 8/28/2017, 1:35 PM

Hi,

I have recently shot some short clips with the Yi 4k+ camera, using 2.7k 50p and 1080p 50p resolutions and the audio sounds crackly when I play the clips either on the timeline, or when previewing them from the media bin

The original audio cannot be heard, but a weird crackly sound (as if Vegas was having issues connecting with the sound output - sorry, best way to describe it). The waveforms for these clips are displayed however.

(The clips play perfectly on Vegas Pro 14.)

Any reasons why this problem occurs?

Regards, Bryan.

My sistem specs:

AMD Rizen 7 1700 CPU (not overclocked)

32 GB RAM

Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 USB audio interface

AMD R9 290X graphics card (4GB)

External usb hdd Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 (7200rpm).

Please note that I dont get this audio problem with my other cameras which include a Sony X3000, and an AX100.

Many thanks.

Please...

  • Post the MediaInfo text report of your source media.
  • Post the VEGAS Files Properties of your source media (the MediaInfo guide linked above shows you how) so we know which decoder is being used.
  • If the media is not too large you could post a link to a sample of it, for example on Google Drive or Dropbox.

Try this:

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key while opening Options > Preferences
  2. Click the Internal tab
  3. In the field "Show only pref containing:" file type "So4" without the quotes
  4. Set "Enable So4 Compound Reader for AVC/M2TS" to FALSE.
  5. OK > Restart
  6. Please let us know if it helps

@bryan-quarrie The developers have asked for a sample so they can look into the issue, so if you have anything you can share on Google Drive, Dropbox, mega.nz etc. it would be appreciated. I understand if you can't because of confidentiality.

Thanks very much Bryan. I see the audio issue also with this file. I have alerted the developers to your link.

is this bug resolved

NickHope wrote on 1/24/2018, 11:50 PM

is this bug resolved

@HasanKhurshid29 In VP15 build 261 this type of file should now open automatically with the older compoundplug codec instead of so4compoundplug, without having to do that yourself in internal preferences. So the audio issue should not occur.

Ok Thanks Nick
