Vegas Pro 18 Trial - Driver Update is blank

frankp wrote on 8/5/2020, 12:32 AM

Just downloaded the trial and install went ok. Clicked "Help" then "check for driver updates", nothing comes up. It is blank and clicking the right arrow to refresh does not load anything. I have a Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB with v20.2.2 (PC details in my signature). Playback of an existing 4K project is extremely choppy even on Preview mode. Vegas Pro 17 runs smooth otherwise. Any help would be appreciated.

The driver update is only supporting NVIDIA and Intel. AMD is coming very soon. ;)

That said, @VEGASPascal, I did see one Nvidia user on the VEGAS Editor's Hub group on Facebook saying they saw a blank screen too, but they had an Nvidia GPU. They said they went to Nvidia's site to get the driver instead, which resolved the problem they were having.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

@VEGASPascal Mine is NVIDIA and I still get blank window! Could you check my system specs in my SIGNATURE and try to tell me what is wrong?

@aboammar The support for the NVidia Quadro is coming soon... At the moment the driver update is searching for NVidia GFX. Hopefully in the next update. Thanks for your feedback and support... have fun with VP18. 😀

@VEGASPascal Thanks. It would be helpful to show a message of the currently supported GPUs instead of a blank window. By doing that, user will not bother you and post about the strange looking blank window!

Ditto: it would be super helpful to at least show a message instead of just a blank screen.
Frustrating experience, we're talking 1 min of extra development time to write a single line of text versus users wasting their time looking for answers on support forums :(

It only took me a minute the day before yesterday to think about our wedding day and buy a bouquet for my wife as I drove by.
Unfortunately I forgot :((( ..... Happened to everyone once

Build 334 claims "AMD support for Driver Update dialog" but I still get a blank dialog with no action.
Are you sure this got fixed/implemented in 334?

frankp wrote on 9/22/2020, 11:50 PM

Updated to build 334 and still no go. It just indicates “loading” with a spinning arrow to the right. I left it for an hour and absolutely nothing! Vegas Pro 18 is the most frustrating version for me. And i’ve been using this NLE since the days of Sonic Foundry! Preview has been choppy and unusable. Vegas Pro 17 working flawless and smooth. Computer specs in my sig.

Driver Update didn't work for me on my old computer with an AMD RX470 GPU; but on my new computer, Driver Update correctly identifies the Nvidia RTX 280 Super. There might be an issue with AMD cards being identified by Driver Update.
