I think others also noted that feature (and disabling MXF multichannel) are not functional anymore.

iEmby wrote on 5/17/2024, 1:31 AM

Installed fine, everything seems to be going okay.

Only bug(?) I can report is that "close media files when not the active application" in preferences keeps defaulting to OFF no matter how many times I set it to ON.

also i remember one more issue related to 'close media preference setting'

when it is on, opening a nested timeline and then shift focus from it (VEGAS) like by minimize or Alt + TAB and shift to another app. then come back on it it crashed. in last version may be in 300 also.

then someone in community suggest me to turn it off.

Once again, I get these build update notices and when I click to update, nothing happens. What gives?

Reyfox wrote on 5/17/2024, 1:28 PM

@GaryAshorn where are you clicking? In the email or in the forum?

@GaryAshorn where are you clicking? In the email or in the forum?

I started up my Vegas 21 and get a notification that there is an update to my build from 300 to 314. I click the UPDATE button and nothing happens. Had this happen before and along the way how it updated but I don't know why. Today, I hit update and my Vegas 21 is still build 300. Not sure why.

Reyfox wrote on 5/17/2024, 4:18 PM

@GaryAshorn you can go HERE and scroll down a bit and download B314.

thanks and yes, I had to go to this page to finally get the DLM installed too. Not sure why the link that Vegas puts up when loading up does not work. I will do it this way again then. thanks.

Hi, one thing I'm curious about is Explorer thumbnails, they can take quite a while to show, (This isn't new with the recent build), There's a folder in 'C:\Users\gidjo\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\21.0\File Explorer Thumbnails' but that only has 502 objects, I have quite a few more files on that drive & another drive, not an incredibly large amount but many more than 502,

This isn't a complaint as Windows explorer opens the files & it's thumbnails almost instantly, I have two monitors & much prefer to drag n drop from there but when I do initially open a folder in Vegas's Explorer it's one of those moments where I'll do something else & leave it to do it's thing. I have 8 folders in my Explorer - Favorites all of which are on one or the other of 2 x M.2 drives both with fast read-write & each time I open Vegas then the Explorer window I see them slowly showing, then I'll do it to the next folder & so on. . Once they've been created I can flick backwards & forwards between the folders & the thumbnails are there...

Fail here. Worked fine with new projects, but wouldn't open a project from v21 300 - crashed on opening every time. Tried reinstalling (and DLM). Tried cache reset, and reinstalled GPU driver, but still the same. Have reverted to v21 300 and it's opening fine again. Sorry, didn't manage to copy the crash report info, but have sent it to Magix.

Hi the same happened to me, could you please tell me how could I go back to 300?

RogerS wrote on 5/19/2024, 7:44 PM

FIXED: "Rendered audio is no longer out of sync"

Does this apply to this error?

RogerS wrote on 5/20/2024, 6:51 AM

I think it has to do with a problem with 300, not old versions of VEGAS.

Sging2 wrote on 5/20/2024, 11:45 AM

Updated fine, only issue I am seeing that wasn't there before is green flashes on some transitions, not all the rime but the odd random one, mainly crossfade, plug in or overlap, as I don't use many others. Just had to re render a wedding because there was one in there.

Reyfox wrote on 5/20/2024, 1:30 PM

@Sging2 maybe start a separate thread with the specifics of the problem. Include GPU driver number, and if possible, try using just the iGPU to see if that makes a difference.

But it's best to start a new thread to help narrow down the possible causes. Also, the source material being editing, what created it?

What I noticed is that I can only download 1 piece of music from VegasHub, VP 21, only one song appears in the HubExplorer. Always have to save the project and restart it. Am I missing a setting there? In VP 20 I can continue to download as much as I want in the project..... they are then visible in the HubExplorer also for VP21.....

QUESTION: The .315 emergency patch is to fix AMD stability issues, yes?

If the AMD card was not specified in File I/O or the Video preferences tabs, and "use legacy decoder" was checked -- would this fix still improve stability in systems with AMD cards?

v21-315 working well so far with opening and stability for the v21-300 project that kept crashing in v21-314, so that's great, thank you (I'm using AMD 6700xt and 5900x.

Can't access Vegas Hub though - just get the three dots when I try and login. It was doing the same on v21-314 earlier today, so I guess that's unrelated. Is it offline? Keen to choose stock clips again... had the same problem as @GerY earlier in the week when I could only download one clip at at time, and had to close and open the project before I could download another clip. It was fine the next day, so it's very odd that it's intermittent.

Reyfox wrote on 5/22/2024, 3:17 PM

@gabgilson yeah, I am logged into the HUB, but I guess it's down right now.

Resoula wrote on 5/22/2024, 3:28 PM

Downloaded 315 onto my radeon setup (the only patch note was for radeon). I am not sure what changed. SFK files (when not in legacy AVC mode) still take 4x longer to write than before 300. HEVC files still result in freezing, audio stuttering, and a memory leak (when not in experimental mode). I suppose none of these were the vaguely referenced "stability"?

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 5/22/2024, 6:14 PM

On a different project than I was working on yesterday (onward!), .315 *so far* has been solid.

  • Re-enabled my RX470 on the Video pref
  • Re-enabled some Dynamic RAM usage
  • Unchecked "use legacy AVC decoder" on the File tab

Editing in 1.5-2x and no crashing .. fingers crossed!

Being a different project, without using any audio filters (e.g. Vegas's reverb), and no audio busses -- not all things are held equal here. But I'll take it. If I have time I'll route some audio to an audio track and add reverb and see if it becomes less stable (just to make the project a bit more like the other one) -- still slightly different cameras so.. if my stability issues were CODEC-related then .. nevermind this path ;-)

Please clarify if the tool "speech to text" is available ,without restrictions. in this new update.

To update my experience with .315 --- I CAN'T BREAK IT. Nice work.

  • Editing in fast-forward
  • Adding Audio FX while playing
  • Adding and rerouting audio busses while playing, adding and removing AudioFX on the bus
  • Removing the audio bus
  • Stopping, Starting, Stopping, SAVING during playback

Since my project is different from yesterday not all variables are equal -- but.. so far -- amazing!

Debugging scripts in Visual Studio still appears to be broken. I even tried the 2022 preview build and no change. It attempts to start up Vegas, but then within a second the IDE gets a return code from the application.

Also, It would be nice if when there is an update and the re-registration thing automatically pops up that the serial number and email address are obscured by default. Have a check box where the user can see that information if they want. This bit me today when I was streaming. I don't have much of an audience on twitch, so I'm probably fine, but in my case not great to showing that information automatically and updates happen infrequently enough it's easy to forget private information is show upon startup.
