Vegas Pro 22, Build 239. Last project does not open and leaves a blank screen. Under Preferences, the check mark is on to open last project. Last project opened in previous version. Thanks!

The last project that was opened, opens just fine for me with VP22 B239.

Maybe make a new post with details so we can figure out what is going on.

so I tried 239 on a new 4k 10bit project from my Sony FX3.

Rather unstable and weird behaviour. I had several crashes, of which I had none in the previous version, two of them seriously bad, black screens, manual Windows restart.
The strange thing is that on jump cuts, even in DRAFT/ AUTO, there's always a slight delay, jumping from 25 to like 22 fps, When editing to music, that's very annoying, as the cuts always seem out of sync. It's also generally really slow and choppy when using LUTs, so much so that I edit in LOG to have a fluent preview.
Also, it often leaves some clips transparent on the timeline, meaning there are no thumbnails unless I click in them.I guess I'll go back to the previous version for now.

I can't tell you how annoying the issue of "double click on media file loads into Trimmer instead of tracks" change in Vegas Pro 22 is. Wait, yes I can. I've been dbl clicking an audio file (from EXPLORER window) since Vegas was new back in 2002 or so, and now it no longer works that way. Every time I do this it pushes an audio file onto an audio track, overlaying or otherwise destroying existing audio cues and edits on that audio track. This is a terrible "new" thing. Please, oh Vegas gods who are amazing, put this back the way it used to be! jmm

P.S. Pls also fix the auto resizing of audio plugin windows thing. It's also super annoying and slows down my sessions muchly.

Both most annoying bugs in the new version. Also every time after working with V22, saved V19 keyboard layouts are destroyed :(

Thanks_

I have several projects that cannot be rendered incorrectly, I have build 239, my ram is eaten and then Vegas freezes and nothing happens. I pay for access to the program to be able to earn money, unfortunately I don't have the opportunity. It's high time to give up

RogerS wrote on 2/20/2025, 7:33 AM

@AdasRu Did you file a support request?

Are you using an AMD GPU?
Do you use the LUT filter Fx?
If you have any clue as to where the memory issue is coming from it could help with a workaround and ultimately a fix.

yes I use LUT fx and wheel colors I had no problems before. short projects that are 3-4 minutes long do the trick. But a longer project of 1.5-2 hours is unfortunately not possible

RogerS wrote on 2/20/2025, 7:50 AM

@AdasRu Thanks for that detail.

Can you try to use the LUT as part of the color grading panel (you can use up to 2 per CGP) instead of the LUT Fx and see if it completes?

AdasRu wrote on 2/20/2025, 8:11 AM

Unfortunately, I won't check. I just went back to builid 194

Doesn't build 194 have the same problem?

Adi-W wrote on 2/20/2025, 3:43 PM

It is not an old bug that Vegas doesn't open the last project use even when it is selected to do so in the Preferences ? Is there a trick to make it work as it should ? I am with the last version of vegas.

RogerS wrote on 2/20/2025, 7:02 PM

That's what I thought. Does adding the LUT in the CGP help?

Reyfox wrote on 2/21/2025, 2:00 AM

@Adi-W, every version of Vegas Pro that I've owned, has always opened the last project (when check marked in Preferences). I did not but tick the box.

I did it differently, I added the vision color lut plugin and used it. I rendered it via Voukoder. it went without a problem.

RogerS wrote on 2/21/2025, 7:30 AM

Glad that worked; hopefully we can get the LUT Fx fixed.
The reason I recommended the CGP is that it uses the GPU these days so should be faster.

Preview Window creating layers randomly on the screen. Build 239

Hello all. I just spent a bunch on a new desktop build and monitor setup.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER

Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Processor

MSI Pro Z890-S WiFi Motherboard

32GB T-Force Delta RGB Memory

4TB WD_Black SN850X NVMe SSD (Operating System)

4TB WD_Black SN850X NVMe SSD (Slot 2)

4TB WD_Black SN850X NVMe SSD (Slot 3)

16TB Seagate Ironwolf HDD

Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Operating System

34" Alienware OLED AW3423DFW Monitor

I can now have half the screen to the right as my preview window and my editing window to the left. Awesome. No two monitors.

See pics, weird multiple layered previews show up while viewing or when video is paused, layers just appear then disappear randomly even when no project opened. Preview is set to the Nvidia but I tried every preview setting in Preferences and nothing changes. Everything else works flawlessly so far, just annoying layered preview window.

That's what I've found (on a laptop with an i9-13900HX plus RTX4070), as well as working around the LUT Filter memory leak bug. Takes longer to set up though - add the CGP FX then open the CGP panel then select Media FX before you can load the LUT, versus just adding the LUT Filter then loading the LUT directly.
