Updated this morning UK time, and all working fine. Have been trying out a new GPU this week - 7900xtx. Benchmarks are best yet with this build, not sure if that's coincedence! 4k 60fps HEVC Sony playback is much smoother with this card than previous 6700xt. It still struggles with text playback and render. So maybe that relies more on CPU - 5900x in my case.

Thanks for the update. I know you spent a lot of time on these changes, and the last thing you need after all this hard work is people like me complaining......However, there are two other known issues that haven't yet been addressed (and I apologize for repeating myself, but these I consider to be 'broken' since they used to work properly and these two things really slow down my sessions):

1. Automatic plugin window resizing does not work properly when using audio plugins on audio tracks. Even with only Vegas plugins, they still automatically resize whether the checkbox under SETTINGS / GENERAL is clicked or not. (the last time this worked normally was Vegas 20, I believe.)

2. Double click on media files loads into trimmer instead of timeline: this has been 'broken' since Vegas22 (worked properly under 21). From Project Media Window, it behaves normally. But from Explorer Window, double clicking loads audio files onto the timeline, which moves/overlays/disturbs existing audio on the timeline depending on where the playhead happens to be and which track is highlighted.

We appreciate you keeping Vegas going strong!

I have a problem now. All videos downloaded from YouTube have audio desync. And not only are they out of sync, they also twitch and frames are missing. Is there a way to roll back the version?

Catastrophic Update!

I can't sync the audio with the video after the new update!

How to revert to the previous version?

EricLNZ wrote on 1/21/2025, 3:13 PM

@Correa There's a download link at the end of this thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/update-vegas-pro-22-build-194--147634/

You need to uninstall your current version before installing it.

Matthew-Hall wrote on 1/21/2025, 5:23 PM

Dropped a single video file onto my timeline. Audio is out sync, frames are twitching and stuttering all over the place. Rolled back to the previous version, all issues are fixed.

I love Vegas, I've been using it for 11 years now, but sometimes these updates really ruin my entire workflow and throw me off for an entire day. I spent so long thinking the problem was me or my files before finding this thread and seeing other users report the same issue.

If your media isn't working right please share a sample or at least MediaInfo so it can get tested and hopefully fixed.

Since the last two updates of VEGAS Pro, I’ve been facing severe audio-video synchronization issues. This is not limited to clips downloaded from sources like YouTube but also affects local video files that worked perfectly in previous versions.

Main Issues Observed:

Audio-Video Desynchronization:

Audio is no longer properly aligned with video, even for simple, well-configured clips.

This issue occurs even with local files that were previously flawless.

Stuttering and Frame Drops:

Videos are twitching, frames are missing, or flickering, making smooth playback impossible.

Impact on Workflow:

These issues have severely disrupted my workflow. I’ve spent hours trying to troubleshoot this, only to find that other users are reporting the same problems.

Questions:

Are you aware of this issue?

Is there a temporary fix or a way to mitigate this behavior while using the latest version?

Are there plans to address this in an upcoming patch?

Note: A prompt response would be greatly appreciated, as, like other users have mentioned, this issue is affecting productivity and our trust in the software.

Thank you for your time, and I hope this issue can be prioritized in future updates.

@VEGASDerek

Hi.
Today I tried the VP22 b237 version
and both problems are still not resolved.

1. stopping events between cuts using 4k MXF
2. pixelation of 4k HEVC and 4k MXF during editing

I remind you that the errors already occurred in VP 21 b300.
You already have all the materials for reproduction and you have confirmed the errors.
I would appreciate your feedback on whether a fix is coming.

I still have to use VP 21 b208.

pierre-k wrote on 1/22/2025, 5:21 AM

Auto Ducking

1. It seems broken. If the audio is cut into parts, Auto Ducking returns to zero at the beginning and end of the cut. Note that it reacts to the cut. Not to changes in voice. If the track is completely uncut, Auto Ducking returns to zero only at the beginning and end.

2. This still works strangely.
Is it broken or is it intentional?
I want to combine multiple track settings into one music but I can't.

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/bug-auto-duck-control-track-fails-to-return-to-zero-after-overlap--147696/#ca928370

3. I'm still missing this setting for Auto Ducking:

I came across the audio/video sync previously and posted on it, as have others. I cannot understand that it wasn't picked up with all of the other very welcome fixes.

Is it the case that beta testing only happens with major version changes such as say VP21 to VP22 and no beta testing occurs for inter version fixes? If so then maybe that could be changed?

Which camera was used for shooting those files, where the video part is out of sync with the audio part? Do you have sample original files?

Or does that happens with youtube downloads only?

Which camera was used for shooting those files, where the video part is out of sync with the audio part? Do you have sample original files?

Or does that happens with youtube downloads only?

I used a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Pro 6K. It was a 1080p file shot on the LT Prores setting. I also tried with other .mp4 files I had rendered in Vegas Pro 22, as well as some .mkv files that I made using OBS.

Later, I tried several different troubleshooting attempts using just a .wav file, a .wav file and a solid color block generated in Vegas, and two .wav files.

With Build 239, the issue was persistent across every scenario, rolling back to the previous was the only solution I could find.

To be more precise with my description of the issue- there were three distinct symptoms.

Firstly, I would hit play after dropping my video on the timeline, and the audio wouldn't start playing for maybe a full second. I would stop, bring my cursor to another point in the timeline, and try again. Sometimes the audio would start immediately, but it was not consistent.

The other issue was that when the audio and video would start at the same time and play in sync, the video preview frame would freeze, stutter, and then continue playing out of sync.

I also noticed something strange when editing two audio files. I had audio files from a few shoots where I had recorded camera audio and separately recorded microphone audio through an interface. This is a standard procedure for me that I have done in Vegas for at least ten years.

I would sync the audio files up by sight, nudging using the 1 and 3 keys on my numpad. I would line up to points where I had clapped, creating a visual spike to aid me with syncing. The audio would play and be totally in sync, but if I zoomed in on the timeline, the files would both audibly and visibly become out of sync. Very strange!

I do have sample files, but I don't have time to upload any today, and I'm also positive that my files are not the issue. I have been professionally editing video for six years, and I have been using the same settings and equipment for most of that time. I have been using Vegas Pro that entire time as well, and I have been purchasing each new version since Vegas Pro 17.

For some reason I couldn’t paste that previous comment /reference above in my last post.while using my laptop and edge.

I no longer have the file but can create similar if required. It's something I occasionally use VP for as well as my normal editing.

In this case the .mp4 file was a pretty standard avc h264 420 8 bit progressive file generated by ffmpeg from a .ts file from Satellite.

IMPORTANT - This thread is now confusing as some of the problem posts relate to Build 237, which no longer exists as Magix withdrew it.

As Wolfgang says above please update to Build 239, which replaced 237.

In the help menu, the link for an update of the video card drivers has disappeared... it did not work with the previous update either. It was very useful...too bad it's gone now.

RogerS wrote on 1/23/2025, 1:16 AM

It was removed after something likely broke/changed on the driver supplier end. Too bad. I use the Intel Driver and Support Assistant (as it hasn't worked for Intel in years) and the NVIDIA homepage instead.
