Hi.
Has anything changed here since the upgrade to version 22.1 (Deep-Learning-Modul 2.0)?

I don't know what they've done with the Deep Learning Models, but 22.1 is more than twice the size of 22.0 coming in at almost 3.5GB.

I can't find any release notes on it though.

For what it’s worth, I have two pieces of feedback:

Auto-Ducking – I think this would be a much more useful feature with one change. Instead of fluctuating the music volume with peaks and dips, it would be better if it calculated the average dB of the voice track and applied a consistent dB reduction to the background music. This would create a smoother, more natural mix. In other words, rather than having dozens of peaks and dips, it should duck one long section at a steady dB. I imagine this would also improve performance.

Subtitles – I just wrapped up a project I’ve been working on for the last few days and needed to add subtitles. While I wish there were better built-in text templates, I created my own to use for subtitles. However, the way the built-in subtitle feature splits lines based purely on character limits makes it impractical for long projects. With all the AI tools available now, wouldn’t it be possible to break subtitles into more natural sentence structures instead of just by character count? This is one feature I still have to use a separate app for on projects.

Have you downloaded them and installed them? You need to install the "Deep Learning Models" in order to get the AI plugins. You can find the installers here:

I would have to totally agree with jacknsb, "With all the AI tools available now, wouldn’t it be possible to break subtitles into more natural sentence structures instead of just by character count?" Much more helpful and useful. Thanks.

I just completed a little test project using AI Assist (AIA) and was very impressed with the results; particularly with the voice over. The speaker spoke at a very good pace with correct intonation. I then decided to change the voice for an Australian audience. I copied the text and used Text to Speech to regenerate the voice over. The result was underwhelming. The intonation was off and the voice was more "robotic." My first question is; does AIA use a different "voice engine" to Text to Speech or does it use the same engine but some speakers are just better than others? My second question is; in AIA, can you pre-select the speaker you want before it generates the voice over or, is only one voice available at this stage of development?

Reyfox wrote on 3/22/2025, 6:08 AM

@Candive I wonder if the AIA voice is based on the language of the installed software? Say, if you installed the French language one, would the VO be in French? I don't know. Not willing to experiment with a working VP.

But when AIA was first introduced, I did a video and basically had to do the same thing you did, copy the text and then go to Text to Speech, because the the way the Polish town was pronounced was wrong in English. I had to type it out phonetically to get it to sound right. It worked. I also had to change some of the text. I still think this is a work in progress. When I did my first video with it, there weren't that many languages and voice choices. And there also has been some trimming down of voices that was available. The AIA isn't programmed by Vegas Pro developers, but integrated into Vegas. So we are at the mercy of where ever it comes from.

But overall, I was impressed with the results. I did change the music, some re-editing and pacing of the initial supplied clips, and of course, using my own footage.

What I found using AIA, is that when my brain stops working, and there is no creativity left in my one functioning brain cell, and I have a project to be started, AIA worked in jump starting that one brain cell.

Hi @Reyfox, I don't teh AIA voice is based on the language of the installed software based on @Hajowo comments regarding AIA in that it does not speak German and he had to use Text To Speech (TTS) to generate a voice over with a AI Speaker named Kluas to create his test video.

To find the default English speaker used in AIA, I went through the voices offered in TTS but couldn't find him so I suspect he is part of AIA but not TTS (unless someone knows this speaker's name in TTS?).

Overall, I'm very impressed with AIA and look forward to its continued development.

Reyfox wrote on 3/24/2025, 9:08 AM

@Candive thanks. Maybe it is because AIA is still a "work in progress" that it is only in English. As for what voice it is, it's Brian in Text to Speech.

Like you, I was pleasantly surprised with the results of AIA and also look forward to future development. I have to say, I was a skeptic at first, since I've always done my own story telling. But now, I can see it's use ins story telling and not having a "template" look that you can get using templates in some software.

Hi.

I'll jump in on this topic. I'm also positively surprised, considering my expectations. In any case, I'll stick with the AI voice Klaus. I'll post an example here, assuming it hasn't happened yet. TTS KI Klaus.
