Please use MediaInfo to help us understand what kind of file it is exactly: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

You are sure the file is okay and opened in a media player?

Test wrote on 10/11/2024, 4:13 AM

File open right for DVD architect and vegas pro 17 and vegas pro 19 but not vegas pro 22 and i see vegas pro 22 missing can open file.avc

What have Vegas Pro 17 and 19 can open file.avc

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 10/11/2024, 6:27 AM

@Test Go to Preferences then under the File I/O tab, Enable or disable Legacy AVC decoding.

Test wrote on 10/11/2024, 6:54 AM

It doesn't matter if Legacy AVC decoding disable or enable still can't open file with avc extension

RogerS wrote on 10/11/2024, 7:06 AM

Please share MediaInfo for the file and if you can, make it available for download.

Test wrote on 10/11/2024, 7:22 AM

I can't share mediainfo for the file because mediainfo software does not support format AVC file

Dexcon wrote on 10/11/2024, 7:26 AM

MediaInfo is more than capable of interrogating AVC media - I've had success for years with the long existing AVC media codec in MediaInfo. If MediaInfo is not displaying information about your AVC media, that more suggests that your AVC media is corrupt in some way.

RogerS wrote on 10/11/2024, 7:55 AM

What if you rename it to .mp4 instead of .avc?

But you said:

Have you in fact downloaded and installed the MediaInfo app recommended earlier by @RogerS and run it on the .avc media?

Can't open AVC file what be render before

For what reason do you want to import a final Vegas render into Vegas again?

john_dennis wrote on 10/11/2024, 4:46 PM

@Test If you must proceed with your project in Vegas 22, use the program tsMuxer (download from here) to rewrap to M2TS.

Dexcon wrote on 10/11/2024, 9:32 PM

Having now tried to open an AVC file in Vegas Pro 22, I also find that VP22 doesn't recognise AVC media and nor is AVC media able to be dragged from Windows Explorer onto the timeline. AVC opens and plays fine in VP21.

MediaInfo does open AVC media but it needs to be selected from MediaInfo's File menu. Here's one I prepared earlier:
