Yes, unfortunately Mocha VEGAS is no longer included. The version that was included in VEGAS Pro 22 is host-locked. This means it can only be used in VP22. VEGAS Pro 23 continues to support Mocha Pro.

paul-marshall wrote on 9/9/2025, 4:26 AM

That is very sad news. Mocha Pro is £590, there doesnt appear to be an option to buy or license the cut down Vegas version. I'll try the VP23 trial but its going to have to be stunning to make me want to upgrade.

That's a shame. I was hoping that the original inclusion of Mocha Vegas indicated a close relationship with Borisfx that would lead to others of their effects working better with Vegas. The removal says otherwise

There is a long tradition of including special third party plug-ins in Vegas then just as one becomes reliant on it an upgrade makes it not available. Yes I know the old version can still be used but that's no way to organise a workflow. I had hoped with Mocha Vegas carrying on from 21 to 22 that we were seeing a new relationship but sadly no. I dont consider these special cut down versions to be trial versions. They provide just the right level of usefulness for users like me. It happened with Newblue Titler - I had to buy the full version which for years I regretted. I'm OK with Titler pro 7 now, after all there isnt much alternative.
Obviously some payment is necessery. I would be happy to pay something for Vegas Pro but cant justify Mocha Pro. I suppose Boris just doesnt want the hassle of supporting the special version.
On the plus side I dont need to purchase the VP23 Suite! Nothing there I need.

Also very disapointed in that. The question is, will it still work though?

Maybe if it's a standalone version, but what about the subscription? If i degrade now to basic version of Vegas Pro when renewing, will the Mocha Vegas still work in Vegas 21/22 ?

Reyfox wrote on 9/9/2025, 11:17 AM

Mocha Vegas came with the Vegas Pro Suite. I am guessing that it would have to be included in whatever version of Vegas Pro you purchase.

While I love the subscription model, I also bought the perpetual suite when it was on sale. The cost of Mocha Pro is expensive, especially if you get the perpetual. I bought the perpetual license for Continuum complete 6 years ago and upgraded every year because it was at a reasonable price. But as with everything, everything goes up. Salaries overhead marketing, etc.. it is the same with all the plug-in software. Software companies need a steady stream of income, and that is where the subscription model comes in. Adobe is making billions out of it.

@redpaw Mocha Vegas is working right now in VP 22 perpetual. Probably be nice if Boris FX offered it as a plug-in. They did that with Hitfilm I believe. I know it was included in Hitfilm Pro because I still have that installed on my computer.

You can go to the Boris forum and see what they would say. Make a post, you have nothing to lose.

@Reyfox that was a smart move. I should have known better... based on their previous temporary inclusion of random plugins every year, dont know why was i expecting to Mocha Vegas to last longer.
Unfortunately i dont have perpetual licence and kind of afraid of renewing nowto basic version in case it will remove mocha from my 21 & 22 versions.

Reyfox wrote on 9/9/2025, 1:37 PM

@redpaw my understanding is that each installation of Vegas is separate from all the other ones you might install. So there should be no issues if you choose Vegas Pro and not choose the Suite.

As Florian wrote above, Mocha VEGAS won't work in version 23 but in 21 and 22. As far as I know Mocha won't be deactivated or deleted when you install VEGAS 23. Maybe Derek or Florian can confirm that.

Like you i'm discovering the surprise :( is there any cheap nice tracking plugin for vegas ? because 765$ for mocha pro :( no thanks..
i'm actually on the trial of 23. it's an EDU, already paid and did the upgrade 10 hours ago, but it seems the office at magix is a bit lazy today, didn't received my serial number yet.. so still working on 22, as there is a big watermark on the preview in vegas pro 23 :(
so, playing a bit with 23 and "ok no mocha anymore, it start well".. i hope the new engine will worth it.
as the same thing happened with Vegas effects and images :( finally buying the suite is not worthing it
and no update to soundforge...

I still have my licence of ignite pro, but soon i'll have to change my cpu/motherboard, so same situation, hitfilm closed the licence server for these "old plugins" :( ...

in the music world, my tunes composed in 1988 are still working today .. pro 24 (using Atari ST emulator) file exported and compatible with cubase SX 3 -> file imported in cubase 9 10 11 12 13 ..and Cubase 14...
i can't tell the same "following" in term of compatibility in the video world :(

Perhaps the question to ask now is "Two years on does the motion tracking in VP23 work well enough to not need Mocha Vegas?". Thats something I shall have to look at.

Reyfox wrote on 9/10/2025, 2:38 AM

@Marty74 since you are using the edu version, they, Vegas, might have to wait for verification of the information submitted to them.

Yes things change a lot with software. What was working and there one year the next year may not be there. I guess that's why use the trial version first to see if it is worth the upgrade.

I did not know that Artlist close down the license server for Ignite Pro which I also have installed. While it was nice in this day, I have been using Boris FX Continuum Complete for the last 6 years. It basically has the same plugins plus much much more, and far greater control.

@redpaw ...

...  will the Mocha Vegas still work in VP21/22 if i change the subscription plan from Suite to the basic one?

Highly unlikely (probably a 'definitely not') because Mocha Vegas was only available in VP21+22 with a Suite license - subscription or perpetual.

Also, be aware of the possibility that changing a 365 license from Suite to Edit may mean that you will be effectively ending the Suite 365 license and commencing a new subscription license for Edit and thus only have Vegas Pro 23 now available to you. With the Suite subscription license ended, that would mean no further access to Vegas Pro 22 Suite and thus no Mocha Vegas also. Unfortunately, it seems that to keep access to Mocha Vegas on a 365 subscription license, you'll need to stay on Vegas Pro 22 and not upgrade to Vegas Pro 23.

One way around this (though far from ideal financially) is to keep the current 365 Suite subscription and don't update from Vegas Pro 22 to 23 and then take out a second subscription license to Vegas Pro 23 Edit - or even possibly buying Vegas Pro 23 Edit perpetual.

VP23을 설치한 인스턴스 VP22 + Mocha VEGAS가 선별적으로 작동할 수 있습니다.

"This is clearly a fault of Vegas Pro. If plugins or features are going to be discontinued midway, it would be better not to market them so heavily in the first place. In the past, Vegas Effects was launched and heavily promoted, but support was suddenly discontinued, which caused me significant losses. I had done client work in Vegas Effects, and due to the unilateral termination of support, I had to redo everything from scratch. Of course, I understand the reasons, but at the very least users should have been given advance notice so we could prepare. Simply announcing it when a new version comes out is not acceptable. Vegas users might understand, but my clients never will.

Now, with Mocha Vegas, it was marketed not as an external plugin but under the name ‘Mocha Vegas,’ which made it seem like a permanent part of Vegas. And now to suddenly discontinue it without any prior notice? Saying that it still works in version 22 so it’s not a problem is unacceptable. Vegas Pro has many loyal customers, but I believe this practice is not right. If there truly is no other option, please at least notify users in advance so that we can prepare countermeasures. Waiting until users ask questions after a new version is released, and then giving feedback, is even less acceptable.

Going forward, please either ensure sustainable partnerships or improve the quality of Vegas Pro’s built-in features. For example, the Smart Mask feature still feels incomplete…"

If Boris pulls the plug on their software how is that the fault of VEGAS? Same thing happened with FxHome and VEGAS Effects. Really VEGAS needs to do as much natively as possible is what I'm concluding.

(Mocha VEGAS was the only bundled plugin I thought really had value so this is bad news).

vegaseditor wrote on 9/10/2025, 1:12 PM

Unfortunately, Magix isn't reading posts from its users of this program, otherwise, they'd take a long look at what the users want, even it means adjusting (up) the price to include a revised price increase for what Boris might charge a fee to include Mocha. I believe the users would accept this price increase so they can use this feature for their projects. Maybe the uses should start a petition to get Magix to consider this as a plugin.
