@Marty74 since you are using the edu version, they, Vegas, might have to wait for verification of the information submitted to them.
Yes things change a lot with software. What was working and there one year the next year may not be there. I guess that's why use the trial version first to see if it is worth the upgrade.
I did not know that Artlist close down the license server for Ignite Pro which I also have installed. While it was nice in this day, I have been using Boris FX Continuum Complete for the last 6 years. It basically has the same plugins plus much much more, and far greater control.
Hey ! just got the autorisation for EDU. it's always the same, since a long time. they could at least keep that somewhere, my proof is valid until 2030 lol
yes, unfortunate for ignite pro. investigating in a fx suite from an another brand.. sure... but if the same happen with Boris FX at some point :( so i try to do everything with the core plugins of vegas, and try to not use any third party stuff for now.. i love newblueFx, i have 2 licences but its awfuly expensive too.. and i don't want to hear the word subscription lol. i'll take a closer look at what available at borisFX and for which price. thanks for the suggestion ! i had a licence for one of their plugin, bought a long time ago and guess what ? yes .. "not part anymore from the new offer blablabla".. after some emails, they allowed me to use it, but ... each year it's "when will it stop ?"
Mocha Vegas is a big loss in new version. I like the new 23, but losing mocha makes me not to upgrade... The mocha pro is too expensive for amateurs video editors... If there is a way to make mocha Vegas 22 to work in 23...
@Risi ... As the first comment in this thread (written by a Vegas staff member) states:
The version that was included in VEGAS Pro 22 is host-locked. This means it can only be used in VP22
If there is a way to make mocha Vegas 22 to work in 23.
That would likely mean hacking the code, and doing so would no doubt contravene Vegas Pro's EULA, especially
6.3 In accordance with §§ 69d & e UrhG (German Copyright Act), you may not make any changes to the licensed Software, personally or by third parties. You may not disassemble the Software into its components, nor modify the object code, decode, copy or use it in any way other than that foreseen in the contract.
... and no doubt contravene BorisFX's EULA as well.
Assuming that you have a perpetual license to Vegas Pro 22 Suite, you can still continue to use Mocha Vegas in VP22 and then render the event for import into VP23.
One way is to open your project in VP23 and use Mocha in an otherwise empty VP22 just for the motion tracking. It's not so hard and saves £50 a year! For instance, you have a clip and you want to add a caption locked to a moving object. From your VP23 project timeline copy the clip and the caption (Titles and Text) to the VP22 timeline. Add Mocha to the clip and motion track and export tracking data to the text as you normally would. Now just copy the text back from 22 to 23, the keyframes are retained. No need to do any more with the clip, mocha is not needed. There is no need to do an intermediate render at this stage. I think this will do for this amateur editor and my occasional use.
Hello. I purchased and installed "VEGAS Pro 23 Suite" but I entered the wrong email address. I ordered from a different email address than the one I usually use to activate VEGAS products.
I can't register or use the product except by changing the email address, but I lose all my previous VEGAS products.
How can I switch the registration of "VEGAS Pro 23 Suite" to my usual email address so I can register and use it alongside my previous Vegas Pro 22, 21, and 20 products registered at this address?
You will need to contact MAGIX at infoservice@magix.net to make this request. When contacting MAGIX, please include both email addresses as well as information such as purchase order numbers and serial numbers.
I'll try the VP23 trial but its going to have to be stunning to make me want to upgrade.
Ok, well I've upgraded after a slight wobble there. I can still use Mocha in 22 so not such an issue after all. In fact I would I would go so far as to say I quite like it. I can use 22 almost as a stand-alone Mocha so I can experiment with my effects without messing up the main project.

Thanks for all the advise, in last case it's something I can do, but I think it's not the smoothest workflow. If you have both programs running at the same time it's also using more pc resources... I don't know, maybe it's better to stay in vp22 and save the money. I don't know if the difference in performance make the update worth it losing mocha. I have to think about this. But for sure I would have been bought already the vp23 upgrade if mocha were in the features list. Thanks!
And has anyone contacted Boris FX, the creator of the plugin, to see if they would sell the plugin as an option? Putting the blame for everything at the feet of Vegas isn't necessarily always fair. There are some things out of the hands of Vegas development.
As for Vegas Effects, it's still working in VP21 from within Vegas Pro or as standalone. No, I don't have the latest and greatest version of Vegas Pro to work with it, but it's still working.
I have installed the trial version of mocha pro, and It was driving me crazy in vegas pro 23 because I dindt the button to create masks and track data. As you can see in the pictures above, when I open the mocha pro plugin (not mocha vegas, Mocha PRO) I can see those buttons and work as usual. Is this a V23 bug? Could you check this? Thanks!
I am a new user and I am discovering the world of planar tracking and I really enjoy and love it. I am not using the mask yet, but the Track Data generated by Mocha in order to apply to my text or images. I dont have the button in Vegas 23 to copy the track data as It appears in vegas 22. This has to be a bug.
In Mocha Pro, track the object you want to follow. 'Export Track' , choose Boris FX Corner Pin (Continuum 11 and older) (,txt), save that to your desktop or a folder. (ignore the on screen spline or other settings in these pictures, I was fiddling with stuff)
Then in Vegas highlight your text & goto Motion Tracking.
In there you can 'Import tracking data from Mocha', find & choose the txt file you saved.
& choose Vegas Picture in Picture or Location.
------------
I don't often use the Copy data option so someone might want to correct me, although it does play smoother in Vegas than Mocha does, this post is about Mocha Vegas tho so you should start a new post of your own about how to use Mocha Pro.
Why you can't see the 'Create track data' is prob something to do with Vegas not adding Mocha Vegas any more..

Thanks for the advice! It was really helpful. I will be trying this month the update and I will decide to go for 23 or just wait for 24, so that the new engine will be more polished and early bug fixes. But I really like the new look of the program. 23 makes 22 looks old and vintage. Thanks!
(Mocha VEGAS는 제가 생각하기에 정말 가치 있다고 생각했던 유일한 묶음을 묶었으니, 안타까운 소식입니다.)
Yes, I also don’t think this issue is entirely VEGAS Pro’s fault. However, what I was pointing out is VEGAS Pro’s response. As recently as four days ago, there was still promotional content for Mocha VEGAS on the VEGAS Pro website. So I don’t believe Boris or FXhome suddenly and unilaterally decided to cut support right when the new version was released. The VEGAS Pro team must have already been aware of this. If that’s the case, I think they should have at least informed users in advance. That way, users wouldn’t start major projects or client work relying on VEGAS Effects or Mocha VEGAS.
We need that information ahead of time in order to prepare, but instead, we only find out at the time of a new version release, leaving us with little time to adapt. And expecting users to stay on old versions just to keep using those features is not a good approach for VEGAS Pro either.
In conclusion, I also agree that strengthening native quality is the right direction.
Does it say something about value for money when the Mocha Pro efx plug-in (albeit with lots of features I dont understand) costs 4x what Vegas Pro with it's myriad of great features costs?

@Risi 👍 If you do want to use Vegas's masking with Mocha tracking, add a Bezier mask & in there is Motion tracking, do the tracking in Mocha, export tracking data as I described above & go through the steps. Like I say I don't use this option so you'll have to play with it & create a separate post to ask further questions about Mocha Pro + Vegas 👍

Vegas Pro 23 new purchase price is $219.99 and the Suite $269.99. Compare that to Vegas Pro 14's (now under MAGIX's umbrella) launch pricing in 2016:
14 Edit: $399
Vegas Pro 14: $599
VP 14 Suite: $799
If VP14's pricing had been maintained and increased in line with inflation (an estimated compounded 34% over those 9 years), Vegas Pro pricing could possibly have now been around:
Edit: $530
Pro: $800
Suite: $1,070
... that notional Suite pricing being much closer to that of perpetual Mocha Pro OFX (for Vegas Pro) which is currently $1,175. BTW, it looks like Mocha Pro 5.2 OFX in 2016 (then under the Imagineer Systems umbrella) cost $995.
Based on 2016 pricing, Mocha Pro hasn't increased all that much in price over the last 9 years but the cost of purchasing Vegas Pro has come down substantially over the same period (even when ignoring inflation).

Yes, that is true. But for what version of Vegas Pro was it for? Vegas Pro 22. Not Vegas Pro 23. As for informing users in advance that a feature will not longer be available in the next version, I haven't seen any software sold advertising this. You buy the software for what it can do for you now. Not hoping that certain "features" that aren't necessarily a part of the main program, will carry over. If you have the perpetual license (one that I always prefer, even if it costs more initially than the subscription), you will always be able to use what is available in that version.
As I wrote above, I can still use Vegas Effects/Image and Mocha Vegas because I have perpetual licenses. Vegas has really no control over third party addons. I guess the reason for it now being "solo" and working on what is a part of Vegas. So stay on the old versions (what's wrong with that?) or move on to the new one without the addons.
I bought Continuum Complete because when I bought VP15-17 Suites that came with Boris plugins that I wanted, I was losing the previous Suite addons when installing the new addons. Now, with Continuum (perpetual), I will never lose anything by updating Vegas Pro.
In conclusion, I also agree that strengthening native quality is the right direction.

I coudn't agree with you more!!!
Hmm… I think we are looking at this issue from slightly different perspectives. The reason I mentioned Mocha Vegas and Vegas Effects is because I didn’t see them as just “bonus plug-ins” bundled with a new version. If that were the case, then as you said, they could have simply offered something like a HitFilm license or a few Boris FX plug-ins.
But in reality, they were released under the names Vegas Effects and Mocha Vegas, carrying the Vegas branding. Even on the official Vegas website, it wasn’t marketed as “just plug-ins,” but rather as Mocha Vegas and Vegas Effects themselves. You know that too.
Of course, a partnership can end midway, and that is something that can happen in business. But in that case, they shouldn’t have used the Vegas name. It should have been positioned as promotional plug-ins tied to that particular version.
For my part, I originally had both the subscription and perpetual versions, but later I canceled the subscription and have only been using the perpetual license. I also separately subscribe to Boris FX Sapphire and Mocha Pro.
And regarding your point—“just stay on the old versions (what’s wrong with that?)”—my answer is this: you may think it’s fine to switch back and forth between different versions depending on certain features, but I personally want to continue client work smoothly on the newest version without having to do that. If I had to keep jumping back to older versions, I would find it far too cumbersome.
We’ll just have to see how things develop in the future. If the built-in functions continue to improve, that would truly be the best outcome. In the end, I think both you and I want the same conclusion: Vegas Pro forever.
