hey all, just returned to vegas for the first time since... I dont remember which Sony version.

for a few years I begrudgingly eked out a few projects using the other current NLE options that aren't subscriptions (which means i used Resolve lol). Resolve is a fine program for methodical kind of things, but it's workflow and operation are much too slow and "stuffy old analog film editing mentality" for me, for my editing style and the quick turnaround times I need... it just has so many extra steps compared to vegas.

I tried the vegas suite 23 for a day or two, and, while it had crashes and freezing up bugs, it's still vegas and lightning fast to use. I wasn't going to get it due to the stability issues, but then I turned off the GPU acceleration and it became reliable enough to use (a youtube video i saw suggested it). Even with it's imperfections, I went ahead and got the suite... i'm a longtime sound forge user too, so in combo with the included plugins and everything else the suite is a good deal for me to get my old workflow going on current computer.

However, and this is my fault for not being more careful, I had thought the Mocha came with suite 23. it was listed when i was shopping just before, and I guess I just assumed it was still part of the suite when the deal offer email came in and I bought the suite.

is it possible for me to install the version 22 and the mocha? or was it a thing where suite had to be bought last product cycle, and now it's too late? I do not mind jumping into a previous version to use it.

So if not, what are the solutions? Does Vegas nowadays have any comparable motion tracking built in? Or will I have to farm out to my old copy of After Effects for basic stuff?

Just so we're clear, I'm not upset, I'm more interested in solutions and getting a workflow going.

I don't know how useful this will be to y'all, but Borix FX has a student license for the entire suite. If you are a student, you can get a one-year license for Mocha, Sapphire, Continuum, etc for free. There is a $5 application fee but there student license has been a god send for me. Mocha Pro comes with way more features than Mocha Vegas anyway. You get the ML Roto tool, face tracking and mesh tracking. All in all, very worth it.

Mocha is finished at V22 so unless you can find V22 still on sale - be quick - mocha will be unavailable. You say V23 has crashes and freezing, under what circumstances - what is your PC spec and GPU?

I think the website is a little bit ... (don't know the right word 🤷‍♂️)

Under features there's this .

It def say Mocha Pro not Mocha Vegas, the title has 'Import' in big letters & the description say's 'Import shape & tracking data'. but listing this within Features along side other native Vegas features could catch people out if they don't read it fully or properly.

PS. I bet there's a lot of people don't know Mocha Pro isn't Mocha Vegas 🤔

I think we would agree with that. Hopefully we can add the resources to be able to do that in the future.

Knowing how the team functions over at BorisFX, i honestly can say this is not the end of a Mocha collaboration with Vegas Pro.
