VEGAS Pro 23 build 278 General Discussion

@LABS, in tracking, I don't think "perspective" would be the right choice. "Location" might be better. You have to experiment.

@Reyfox thank you that is a good call.

Sadly though I just spend the last hour or so trying different modes, cropping and NOT cropping before hand, other clips, etc. All with similar results of the track just kind of drifting in any direction. Notably either up or down, mostly down. I appreciate the help but I bet there is a thread I can find discussing the Motion Tracker itself.

Thank you!!

Reyfox wrote on 9/25/2025, 3:17 PM

You know you can go through the track frame by frame, adjust where it starts going off and track from there.

Also, if you have any panning/cropping/zooming applied to the clip the tracking can slip

Gadzooks ....

So just upgraded the video edit box from a 7th gen I7 to a 14700kf along with a new motherboard. Same RTX4060.

Render speed for HD h264 went from around 80fps to 340fps, using nvenc. Stunning.

Hi RogerS, hope you're doing well. Here's an update. I went to Costco on 09/25/2025 and spent $1956.31 on a new Desktop Computer.

Note: Not 100% the same computer because I have 6 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB C port.

I just now got around to finally installing Vegas Pro 23 on to it, and tried out that (Preview video on external monitor) and it finally works as it should. No fiddling required at all. It just works now.

Hello, when I use the color correction and change the mid-tones, shadows, or highlights only from 0.00 to 0.010, the color gradients (as seen in the clouds) are no longer displayed correctly. Changing the threshold values doesn’t improve it either. Is there something else I need to consider, or is this a bug? (Source: DJI Mini3Pro)

Reyfox wrote on 9/28/2025, 11:41 AM

What are your video settings for the Mini 3 Pro? I shoot with the drone, but don't use the CGP to get the colors I need. Since a lot of what I shot might have "haze", I use Boris FX BCC+ Haze and proDAD's Picture Enhanrz RT to get the results I want shooting D-Cinelink. Vegas does have AI Dehaze, but it doesn't always work, although at times, the results are as good as Boris FX. I am seeing the same result as you.

It is hard getting the clouds and the sky "right" for sure.

I think it's the banding he's referring to.

There is a color shift in the clouds. I've seen it on my footage too. Inspect the clouds and compare how they look.

I’m having the same problems with the video files from my GoPro 11 and Galaxy S23, so the source material can’t be the issue. I never had these problems in Vegas 20. Since I was considering buying the upgrade, I downloaded the trial version. But with this problem, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing the upgrade.

Vegas Pro 23 crashes when I have a clip with the 'sharpen' effect and try to adjust the color curve in the 'color grading' panel. Any solution? Thank you very much.

Nuno-Fernandes wrote on 9/29/2025, 7:57 AM

I noticed 2 massive problems... I have Vegas Pro 21, 22 and now 23 as of 09/15/2025.

1: The external monitor feature keeps flashing when in use...

I currently have 21, 22 and now 23. Both 21 and 22 are functioning as it should after some fiddling around with the settings. But with 23... the previous fix isn't even an option.

As far as I know, everything is up to date, my cords are all fine and the feature works in the previous two versions.

Previous Fix (for those with the previous versions) who would like to know...

- Open Vegas 22 or below
- Hold shift and go to Options
- Click Internal
- Lookup "Enable OpenCL/GL Interop" using the search (Not found in 23)
- Change it from "True" to "False"
- Click apply, restart Vegas, and from there... it should hopefully work for you.

Note: I had previously hoped that maybe once I bought it instead of just using the trial version of 23... maybe I could apply the same fix. But nope. $199.99 CAD down the drain more or less. I'll likely continue using 22 until a fix can be found.

2: The on going problem of every time a video is rendered it gets darker... (Seems to have gotten a bit better with 23), But still a thing...

I have never been able to figure this out. Using this program for animation, I need it to be consistent. If I need to go back and edit a scene, like add more or take away from it, the new edits are going to be like a few shades lighter then thee old.

My current solution is just do it right the first time. But production is always changing... and things are left for days, weeks, months and or even years.

Extra Note: I have tried reaching out to the official support team a few days ago... but no response. So even they probably don't know.

And Extra Side Note: A special thanks to a RogerS reaching out and trying to help.

Not sure if this helps you or not, but I was also getting flashes when putting the preview in fullscreen, and I fixed it by disabling the "Enable G-Sync" option in the Nvidia settings. You can try it and test.

Reyfox wrote on 9/29/2025, 8:20 AM

@Nuno-Fernandes create a new post with much more detail on what is happening with detailed steps how to reproduce it, including the settings you used. Also read this POST and answer "B" and "C" in your post. This is information that is needed in possibly figuring out what is wrong.

When I close the Explorer window VP23 freezes and needs a task manager 'End Task' to escape. I usually use floating windows but it's still the same if I add Explorer to a to docking area. It's not a problem in VP22.

@paul-marshall how are you closing the Explorer window? Changing to a different tab (Video FX, etc) no issue. Even closing it by clicking on the little "x" in the Explorer tab, it closes fine.

I love Vegas, i love creating videos with it, but it's so frustrating to see how unstable it is, it feels like every year it gets laggier and crashes more often. Whenever i put in a video, give it like 3-4 cuts, the program starts stuttering, i don't get it..

paul-marshall wrote on 9/30/2025, 7:41 AM

@paul-marshall how are you closing the Explorer window?

Thanks for checking. Using the X, selecting another window layout, or unchecking Explorer in the window menu, always freezes. Eventually a 'Vegas is working' wait or terminate pops up but only terminate has any effect. Maybe its a windows issue. Drivers are up to date. It's another of those Why Me? moments that I only seem to get with Vegas. It's especially frustrating because I know Vegas is doing vast amounts of really difficult high-tech stuff that all work superbly for me.
Update: So I tried the new 302 beta and still the same. I then tried using the new default window layout and by changing tabs it all works fine. But any attempt to close the Explorer window causes a freeze.
