Would this include the icons? V18 had the best looking icons, I was sorry to se these go in place of simple black and white. I do like the improved vector scopes and time line colours including more visible cursor position and overlap.

I notice that the QuickTime plugin does not work properly in VP23. After rendering and also in the preview, the added MOV files may or may not appear. Now I have to delete everything without the MOV files (Blufftitler) and have the film rendered in VP23 and then load it into VP22 to fit the MOV files..... Doesn't seem like the intention to me.

@GerY Did you try the latest beta build? It has a variety of bugfixes but not sure about Quicktime.

Unfortunately the problem with the QuickTime player and the applying MOV files is not solved in the Beta build 302. I am disappointed.....will go back to VP22 until this bug is resolved.

@GerY: We need some information about your media files. And it seems you are using the (deprecated) QuickTime plugin?
Blufftitler offers quite a number of export codecs to work with.

@VEGASFlorian

Vegas Pro Team!!! What is going on???
A 9-megabyte mp4 file is causing Vegas Pro 22 and Vegas Pro 23 to use an extra two gigabytes of RAM!!!????
Vegas Pro 20 uses practically no additional resources for the same task and runs perfectly! It might be slightly underpowered, but it works flawlessly! Vegas 20 shows no difference when handling mp4, mov, avi, etc. files.
But if I load absolutely any mp4 file into Vegas 23 or Vegas 22, they go crazy! Vegas Pro 23 normally uses about 500–700 MB of RAM with my settings, but as soon as I load an mp4 or m4v file, it immediately adds plus 2 gigabytes of RAM consumption. This is a system bug! This shouldn't be happening! Fix this, VEGAS TEAM!

This is demonstrated in videos comparing Vegas 20, 22, and 23

It doesn't matter how long the file is or how much it weighs (its size); I've performed many tests, and the same thing happens every time, and it's infuriating! It makes me angry! The increase in RAM usage doesn't affect playback performance; in fact, these files respond with a major delay, and the whole project slows down because of it. This never happened with Vegas 20. This spike occurs with any mp4, m4v, and mkv files (though I don't use mkv, I just checked it during testing). I spent two days on this, and I couldn't find a solution!

VEGAS PRO TEAM! SOLVE THIS PROBLEM... WHAT IS GOING ON???

@VEGASFlorian And of course, I want to say a special thank you to you, Vegas Florian, for... A week ago you showed me how to properly set up mouse button controls. Thank you, you really helped me and made my life happier. But as you can see, now we’ve run into a new problem. I’m just testing Vegas 23 because all this time I’ve been working with Vegas 20 Pro. And that’s why I keep finding new and strange issues in the new Vegas Pro. For example, working with the most common video format in the world, MP4.

When I load an MP4 or M4V file, Vegas 23 Pro just loads it and then starts choking it like a maniac with his victim. This doesn’t happen when I load AVI video files into Vegas 23. I can load 20 AVI or WOB movies and almost nothing happens to the RAM. Twenty movies are about 30GB, but Vegas Pro 23 doesn’t even notice the load and doesn’t stress the RAM. But as soon as I load any MP4 file, no matter the size or length, the RAM usage goes through the roof. This is completely nonsense — it’s a bug. And you know that, Vegas Florian… Help us solve this problem, Bro😎

RogerS wrote on 10/2/2025, 9:19 PM

@AUDIS-8 I think you know this but MP4 and AVI aren't file types they are just containers. They can hold everything from pictures to AVC to HEVC to obscure codecs. If you want proper support please add your hardware to your signature (at least CPU and GPU) and share MediaInfo for them. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Same files to test is even more helpful so the VEGAS team can test it on similar hardware. Help us help you!

GerY wrote on 10/2/2025, 11:55 PM

@VEGASFlorian

 Yes, that's right, I use the Deprecated Features QuickTime plugin. I render my texts and videos made in Blufftitler to QuickTime Mov including the Alpha Channel. In Vegas I go to Properties-Media and change Alpha Channel to Straight (unmatted). This method worked perfectly in VP22. But in VP23 this MOV more often disappears during rendering. I will try to send some pictures and video to make it clear. Pic1: The timeline event. Pic 2: Creating MOV file in Blufftitler using QuickTime MOV with alpha channel. Pic 3 : after rendering the Logo (MOV) disappears. Pic4: Screen shot of Task Manager when the logo disappears during rendering.

@RogerS
It seems like you didn't quite read my message properly. I'm being completely serious here. You need to understand this: any MP4 file, specifically ones downloaded from YouTube, even the smallest one at just 10 Megabytes, is causing a major problem.
When I load it into Vegas Pro 23, it immediately starts consuming an extra 2 Gigabytes of RAM, and the preview starts to freeze. Do you get it now?
You can easily check this yourself. Just download any random YouTube video, load it into your own Vegas Pro 23, and see it for yourself. For example, if your Vegas is initially using 1 Gigabyte of RAM, after loading a YouTube MP4, it'll jump up to 3 Gigabytes. This shouldn't be happening—it never used to!
What's more, the preview starts to lag even with a file that's only 10 megabytes—that's just impossible! I have a 14-core processor and work with thousands of files; Vegas Pro 20 never had this issue.
Vegas Team, please fix this! This is unacceptable.
Sincerely - Anonimous😎

still having glitches with MXF files like I did in vegas pro 22. I'm at build 278. I didn't have this issue in vegas pro 21.

These glitches seems randomly in the file. i just saw there was amd driver update 25.9.1

After installing to this latest driver the glitches are still there...

@AUDIS-8 I download Youtube videos using 4K Video Downloader and they all play fine with VP23. All of them. So, how about actually providing one of the Youtube videos that are problematic?

You mention lag, what are your Preview settings?

BTW, my MP4's (all of them from Panasonic) play back just fine. MTS and other files from Canon do also.

Do you understand? Do you get it now?

@BONLEV can you upload a sample clip to the cloud to be tested? I have several MXF files, they play back ok.

@Reyfox: I think uploading a sample clip will not help. I just saw on my timeline a new glitch. When restarting vegas the glitch at the same point was gone. Also just tested when I saw another glitch on the timeline I did a few times starting on another point in the timeline and It went away. This is a very strange issue. But rendering a region with a glitch in it is also visible in the final render (mp4) So no luck here

@BONLEV that's my experience too. If you change the decoder in preferences, file io to QSV they should play back at full speed.

Older *.veg files created with 22.0 does not open correctly with 23.0. I have very simple projects containing only of an audio file (a song), a picture and the song lyrics as subtitles. One project, the most recent one (created today) opens correctly in (and created with) 22.0 but is missing the sound file and the sub titles with 23.0. Another project opens fine except that the subtitle track does not show, but works anyway, really weird. I don't know if this is a known problem or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I tried to regenerate the missing sub title track and that ones shows correctly. Luckily I didn't uninstall 22.0.

@BONLEV just trying to help. If you don't want to supply a sample video, that's fine. As I wrote, the files that I've tried work. I guess I must be fortunate.

Honestly, if someone wants help, supplying a sample file that doesn't work should not be a big thing. It will help determine if it is a "global" (everyone) issue or not.

Thank you, but i have an ryzen 9900x cpu.. 😐

Hope they implement rtx 5000 series 422 10bit h265 support.

The hardware have h265 422 10bit decoding capability.. but the software doesn't use it 🙄

Here's the same *.veg file loaded with v22.0 and v23.0. This project had the sound file intact with v23.0, but where is the sub title track? You see the text in the preview but not as a track, so where is it?

And just like that the project I was having problems with started to work. It may not work the next time I open the project.

It's worth mentioning I made a soft link (using "mklink") of a folder in my "Music" folder pointing to another drive and place because I ran out of disk space. So, I just opened another project and got a dialog it could not find a file, and I entered the search function. After that all files were found and all is fine, but maybe not the next time I open that particular project. Ah, just tried and got the same dialog. So, maybe soft linking a directory don't work here or I do something wrong.

After telling VP where they files are you need to save your project otherwise it won't automatically find them next time.
