@JackyBoy Make sure you're looking at ALL formats: This is the current 23 where "Hide additional formats" is unchecked. Previous versions said "Show additional formats" which needed to be checked.

BIG thanks to jetdv and eleven. Seems like I was not the first to have the problem. Found all the formats and can now get on to finish the project. Happy new year to all.

As annoying as I find them, I think the first time people run 23 and open the render dialogue, a popup notification should notify folks (ONLY the first time) that they can do that to show the additional formats, or at least have a little note at the bottom of the render GUI that says this. On the surface, it looks obvious, if you look for it you can figure it out, but folks are used to just seeing all their formats as soon as they open the dialogue, and because this is a big change from the way things have been done for decades, many think something is going wrong when they don't see the other formats.

@mark56 Your message is really hard to understand. Please make a new post with details about what exactly the problem was with 23- screenshots preferable. Include what media you are using. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

There is zero reason to uninstall a previous version of Vegas Pro unless you need the additional space on your C: drive.

Your User Profile is blank. How about adding to your Signature, your computer specs and OS version? See mine (or most other users) Signature.

When you mention VP23, what build version?

Preview, zero issues, render H264 AMD has been problematic for me. Artifacts appearing when rendering is complete, but do not appear during viewing the render in the Preview. I finally used AV1 without any render issues. VP23 Build 302

Just got Sony Vegas Pro 23 today and discovered that we can no longer make borders around our centered video for YouTube and TikTok Shorts. Is that correct?

Just got Sony Vegas Pro 23

Sony Vegas? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/

Wow! Of the hundreds of times I’ve written Sony Vegas over the last 12 years, it was curious to me that it is now owned by MAGIX. I’ve been using Pro 17 for the last six years with little to no issue and never had to drop into the forums.

I was gifted with Pro 17 years ago, but I bought Sony Vegas Pro 23: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/

The current branding doesn't use Magix or Sony, it's called VEGAS Pro.

I would anticipate this type of semantic snark on Reddit, but here we are. Ensuring that all the I’s are dotted and T’s crossed. Don’t worry about the topic of the post; just keep talking about getting the product name correct and being petty.

The branding VegasPro is still owned and distributed by Magix. Last version Sony Vegas was 13.

You guys have painfully established the distinctions of the branding name, but failed miserably at describing the distinction between “Vegas Pro 17.0” and “Vegas Pro 23.0” (for all the pedants), having removed the ability to add a border to the centered video clip, unless you guys prefer being willfully obtuse

The border fx is not working correctly with NVIDIA GPU support afaik.

It's an Nvidia issue? Interesting.

@BuzWeaver You've come to the official forum of VEGAS Pro; official meaning it is operated under the company that now owns the product and which does not want it associated with Sony a decade post acquisition. On Reddit the reason is more about confusion- if you say Sony VEGAS you are assumed to be talking about versions up to 13.

Anyway, I am having trouble understanding what I am looking at in your screenshot. Is it 3 stacked videos with the center one supposed to have a border using border Fx?

If so, here's an attempt to replicate it in 23 with an NVIDIA RTX 4060 mobile in use. I had to move the border Fx left of pan crop (added at the event level) to get it to look like this.

Vegas issue or NVIDIA issue?

RogerS wrote on 12/31/2025, 3:43 AM

Good question as to whether it's VEGAS or NVIDIA.

For me I see different behavior based on the position of pan/crop.

GPU on:

and GPU off:

Both look wrong to me.

GPU on, pan/crop after border Fx

GPU off, pan/crop after border Fx:

Hopefully the developers can take a look at this behavior. RTX 4060 mobile in use with studio driver 581.57.

3POINT wrote on 12/31/2025, 4:48 AM

@RogerS The issue I have is that I cannot place a border around a CROPPED image with NVIDIA GPU enabled. When I put border fx before pan/crop and start cropping the image, the border is also cropped away.

RogerS wrote on 12/31/2025, 4:56 AM

I think you are testing different things from the other poster but I can confirm what you are saying and can't think of an obvious workaround that doesn't also affect the border (tried playing with the crop Fx).

Indeed, but my described issue is already present in Vegaspro since I can remember that GPU support was introduced. My workaround is to use track motion glow fx to create a border around a cropped image, but that's far from optimal.

My proposal would be to add a border feature to the Layer Dimensionality FX and forget about Border fx.
