Vegas Pro Flow crashes v20 every time

Mindmatter wrote on 5/30/2023, 2:21 PM

Hi all

wanted to try out a few presets with Flow. As soon as I hit "apply", I get a message: "vegas flow couldn't find an ending keyframe", and then Vegas crashes and exits.
Even with no event selected, just hitting apply crashes Vegas 20.
I tried also to update to 1.4.3 but the installer does not work, either displays error messages that files could not be created or doesn't run at all.

here's the V20 crashlog, keep getting those So4HardwareDetectionError recently, like with PE4.

What did you find in the extra information files?

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Hardware detection issues might be related to a driver problem with your GPU, what driver version are you using? Which GPU?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

There is a lot of information in the log files about what Vegas thinks about the system, I would guess that 99% of users never open a log file.

after the crashes I updated to the newest Nvidia studio driver for my 3070, which is 535,98.

It didn't resolve the issue, and today I had a monster Vegas crash with black screens and a total apocalypse.

Thank you for the @ @m3lquixd 👐

Interesting, I've never seen or heard about "So4HardwareDetectionError", let alone black screen crashes.

A few things:

  • Make sure you have at least .NET 4.8 installed
  • You have to close VEGAS when "installing" a newer version of VPFlow as it only replaces the old files with the new ones in the specified folder
    • note that if the default path did not work and you used another path from "manual install" you will need to continue to do so for now
  • What is "PE4"?
  • Could you share what's inside the "So4HardwareDetectionError" files?
  • I tried to look more into the mentioned issue but it does not seem to be related to VPFlow at all, but it seems like it somehow triggers it which is really weird

I would love to test all the problems for myself but I do not have versions other than VEGAS 14 or 18

@RatinFX thanks for looking into this.

PE4 is Plural eyes 4.

Could you share what's inside the "So4HardwareDetectionError" files?
Sorry, I don't know how to do that,.I just copied the crash log.

Make sure you have at least .NET 4.8 installed

note that if the default path did not work and you used another path from "manual install" you will need to continue to do so for now

I'll give that a try ASAP.

UDATE:
I tried again to reinstall the 1.4.3. update , NET 4.8 was already installed. For some reason, it now works!

Lol actually insane how nothing changes but it gets fixed, glad to hear it's ok now

If anyone got an idea how to troubleshoot/debug these problems I'm always listening

Yeah it's really weird...I didn't do anything apart from trying one more time the next day...

Just open C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\MAGIX\FileIO\1.0\So4HardwareDetectionError.log with note pad to see what's inside.
