Vegas Pro freezes / hangs after starting up

Einar_R._Bordewich wrote on 7/21/2022, 8:15 AM

I earlier owned Vegas Pro 19 and let the license run out due to rarely use. I now uninstalled it and bought Vegas Edit 365. After installing first time I could open old projects fine. Then I imported/opened a MP4 file and the system just freezes up. I tried many times same result. I checked for updates og reboot computer. Same result. Then I uninstalled it and installed it again. Now it freezes just after starting it. Cant do anything except Crtl-Alt-Delete! So? Money back, buy another video SW or what do I do?

How is that possible without a newer program?

Then I imported/opened a MP4 file and the system just freezes up.

What is the MediaInfo of that MP4 file?

If you OWNED Vegas 19, the licenses do not "run out". They are forever. If you got 365, you have the latest version.

If you had a monthly version of 365 it could have expired.

How can I know? Never got to use the program once! As I said! It freezes up after starting!

I have now uninstalled Vegas Pro again! Deleted all files with VEGAS and MAGIX in C:\ProgramFiles and C:\DataFiles also C:\Users\Einar included hidden files, and everything I could find in the registry about Vegas using the CCleaner. Now the program starts and I am back to the original problem about: not able to load a MP4 file! What Codex do I need to install in Vegas for using MP4 files?

Could just be a poor choice of words, they could have rented it with 365 on a one month contract and then let it expire. The important part is they currently sub to 365.

It was the "Enable legacy AVC decoding" that did the trick! Sorry for my annoying "20 questions" but I use the software quite rarely :-)
