Within the context of this forum, I find the video's subject matter objectionable.

Thanks, but I'm already getting enough political attack ads on my TV.

DGates wrote on 10/19/2010, 9:45 PM
Indeed. Do tell.
ushere wrote on 10/19/2010, 10:16 PM
bump map (transparent) text
then wave fx

then it was simply a matter of playing with (and i mean PLAYING) the various parameters such as bump height and wave velocity.....

Nice Leslie I did something similar for a Golf course promo but with the height map I used the water as a texture map so the logo/text image was
half in half out sort of thing, now I am thinking maybe I should have left the texture map off.

Here's another neat video showing off 1200% time compression.

90 min Kuala Lumpur tour in 7.5 minutes

2 cuts - once because of a traffic jam, another because of a tape change.

make sure you check out the 720p version

^^^ Dizzying! Police escort just to get a video?

More political video for ya all:

All moving graphic elements animated in Vegas.

DGates wrote on 10/21/2010, 5:22 PM
I guess this is for his website, and not an actual commercial? Either way, it could flow a little tighter by rearranging the clips and trimming out some of it. As in, chronologically starting with what brought him to Morro Bay, then what he does there and finally what his plans are if elected. It seems a little scatter shot in that regard.

"Police escort just to get a video?"

That's mostly what motorcycle police do over here. They escort the various royal families, politicians, politican's wives and any important visitors. And of course if there are any big tourist things, they will get involved.

Without an escort that route would have easily taken us 2-3 hours to complete. Which is a longer time than the winning runner.

Here is part of a piece that I did recently when one of the forum members had a question about how to create "The Dallas Effect". The video is just some timelapse I was working at the time. As I look back on it, creating starburst effects when workers are near 155,000 Volt distribution lines is sort of comical. I actually have no plans for the video at all. It is purely a technical pursuit and is unlisted on youtube.

DGates, Yes, yes, and I agree. Keep in mind, though, here is the standard for Morro Bay:

This one shot by a professional video company (not a firefighter using Vegas... me):

lol. I saw that on Teage's YouTube page. I was thinking, I hope Kev didn't do that. =]

That text looks like Videonics TitleMaker.

Yes, yours looks much better.

I lived on the Central Coast from '99 to 2004 (Santa Maria/Nipomo). Now I'm stuck in Bakersfield. =[

I like the effect of the moving panels, John.

"I like the effect of the moving panels, John.

It was a puzzler for some. Considering Dallas was done in the late seventies and eighties, to think they did that without a non-linear editor. (It was probably easier, then, but more tedious).

On another note. When I was in college I played drums for any group that would pay me money. At first, I was put off at the thought of working with a Polka band, but I found that those folks go to the party meaning to have a good time. The OctoberFest closed the deal for me.
DGates wrote on 10/21/2010, 7:33 PM
Lots of beer on hand, I'm sure. =]

I did a similar Dallas-themed video, but mine was with photos, for some friends a while back. But that was 3 computers ago, and I don't think I could find it. It was fun to do though.
