How's that hopey changey thing working out for ya?

Well I'll tell ya, it's been tough. A politician has many obstacles to overcome to try and get things implemented. They have to stick to it and keep trying the best they can. It's not like a person in office who quits their term half way through, shirking their responsibilities, to become a highly paid professional whiner. That's what we would call taking the easy route.

Nicely done, Qwailo. Informative and fun to watch.

Here is my contribution to this collection of sharing . . .

Well, for crying out loud...
I've tried both embed code strings from vimeo without success...
Any vimeo users have any hints for me...

Ray? Are you around? (grin)

I've done it before, evidently not often enough to remember what I did to make it work... (sigh)
Yes, I've looked at the examples in the sticky at the top of the forum... my project does not look anything like the examples... (sigh)

Until that time... Earl J.

@ Rory_Cooper Very nice. I guess that shows the world that a RED camera is not required to make commercial video :) That was even ambient light I assume.

If you are on VP10 I might think about using the stabilizer for roll only on a couple of the hand held shots. They stuck out to me, but the average viewer probably won't care.

Damn, now I am hungry. For the production cost, that was a very fine product. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Earl, I thought you could put the Vimeo embed code inside the "code block" but it isn't working for me. Funny, it does play if you use the "SCS Forum Preview Tool to insert it, but the posted message just shows the embed code. Anyone else know how to embed vimeo video?

@qwailo,

What format was the raw footage for the 1200% speedup? I am playing with a similar project with a "toy" kodak playsport mounted to a bike helmet. I shot the first test video at 720/60p but the speedup was not as nice as I would like it to be.

Any tips on smoothing it out would be great.
gwailo wrote on 10/22/2010, 7:12 AM
it was shot in HDV on a Z1 using a wide angle lens

After importing the footage I converted it to full uncompressed HD before doing any more processing.

I sped up the footage to the max 400%

then I rendered again to full uncompressed HD and then sped it up again.

I think the key is to only process footage that is uncompressed.

Thanks Jerry...

I've done it before ... I guess this time around, I'll need to make a template for myself in a word document that I can import/cut/paste the next time I need it... (sigh)

Until that time ... Earl J.

thanks qwailo,

I had not thought of rendering to uncompressed before processing. I am going to give it a try. My footage starts out on a little helmet mounted Kodak Playsport so the quality is not the greatest but this tip should help.

Thanks,
JAB

A change of mood for you... Worth going 720p and full screen if you like this sort of thing...

A must in fullscreen :) Thanks for sharing.

I loved watching that Nick. I was a dive instructor for years and I have seldom seen a video that captures the magic like that does. The banded shrimp on the moray was great and the nuedabrachnics (sp) were fabulous.

What are you shooting with?

Nicely done, Nick.

Thanks folks. Glad you like it :)

I was shooting with a Sony HVR-Z1P HDV camera in a Light & Motion Bluefin HD housing with the 80 degree wide port. I have a diopter that works with this lens that I can flip in and out as needed for close-ups. For dedicated macro dives, usually at night, I screwed on a Century +3.5 achromatic diopter behind a flat port.

Most of the day time shots I used available light from the sun with a flippable red UR-Pro colour correction filter, but for some shots I used Light & Motion halogen lights.

More vids on my YouTube channel if you're interested.
