I am trying to record video from games like fallout 4 for use in youtube.
My workflow is to use OBS Studio to record in FLV as I play, then use VLC to export as mp4 losslessly because vegas can't handle flv. Then I import that gigantic mp4, and edit, and then export the final product as mp4 with the usual compression. That can then be uploaded to Youtube.
That all worked fine except for this last video, which seems perfect in FLV , and before i import it seems fine as an mp4, but for some bizarre reason, Vegas Pro converts it to greyscale.
I can't see why, I can't even see how I would do that if that was the effect I wanted to achieve.
Can anyone tell me why the video seems ok in other programs but appears as greyscale in VP? I checked - other videos seem to be importing correctly. I can try to record footage again, but it's very hard to capture specific actions in a game - you have to be lucky, and i have spent hours in the past trying to recreate things that happened naturally.
The original mp4 properties:
After I have edited it, it needs to be compressed ideally so that it is no more than about 900 meg, which is pretty harsh, but i managed it before. I have serious limitations on how much i can upload per day, and Youtube doesn't let you do it in parts, as far as I know.
I have gone over and over these settings so much trying to solve the greyscale issue that I can't even recall how i managed to do it for my earlier videos.
Video is in greyscale
