VP 12 MainConcept AVC/AAC vs Sony

Hi Folks

I'm a very amateur user but have had Vegas pro from 10 and 12 for a while.
I do not understand the in's and outs of rendering like you folks so please be gentle.

My question:

I have a (MainConcept) profile that works well for me for just youtube at 1440p with footage recorded from Nvidia Shadowplay at around 60Mbps. Image of settings here http://imgur.com/rh0L2OB

I tried to create a similar profile using Sony AVC/MVC but it pumps out an 'invalid argument error' the second I hit render. Sony profile here http://imgur.com/8wSnNeM

error http://imgur.com/bWBQ2Ul

I have 1080ti 6700k 36Gb ram.

Now the main concept one works, Im just trying to understand if I am doing something wrong with the Sony profile or perhaps it is not possible, I re-iterate I do not understand the majority of this but am trying ;)

Thx

I'll be gentle, but firm. The Sony AVC render template won't successfully render any pixel dimensions over 1920x1080. Thus, the Mainconcept render template is used for UHD and, in your case, 2560x1440.

That's the way it is. It's like the Eagle song Hotel California "You can type in anything you want, but you can never leave."

It'll do 1920x1080-59.94p, though.

Thanks John. Appreciate gentle the clarification.

A follow up if I may, with VP 14 pro, are there more options for the higher res, considering the h.265 hevc inclusion, or is mainconcept just 'the std'?

Been on the fence a bit with upgrading.

I'm not the right person to answer questions about Vegas Pro 14. I've been focusing on hardware and cameras and don't plan to upgrade from 13-453 until I see a real need to do so.

This thread includes the max. resolution, frame rate and bit rates for the Sony and MC AVC encoders, and also explains ways to improve quality using those or the external x264 encoder.

HEVC is not accepted by YouTube and still has some issues including those explained in this thread.

Thanks again John and Cornico.

Nick, thank you for the links, there's a wealth of good info there for me to read up on and digest. Much appreciated.
