VP13 crashing on Exit???

Cliff Etzel wrote on 2/23/2017, 6:39 PM

Here's the error report I have sent off twice now when closing out Vegas Pro 13:

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
   Application Version: Version 13.0 (Build 545) 64-bit
   Problem:             Unmanaged Exception (0xe0434352)
   Fault Module:        C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll
   Fault Address:       0x00007FFB46637788
   Fault Offset:        0x0000000000017788

Fault Process Details
   Process Path:        C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 13.0\vegas130.exe
   Process Version:     Version 13.0 (Build 545) 64-bit
   Process Description: VEGAS Pro
Process Image Date:  2016-08-30 (Tue Aug 30) 17:29:46

Anyone willing to chime in on this? My concern is that it wont be any better with Vegas Pro 14 if I choose to upgrade.

Maybe it's your concern but not mine.
When it happens nothing is lost and the program did what it had to do.
Version 14 has it less with me.

The point being is it seems to be related to GPU issues - yet, VP13 doesn't show any GPU options...

Does it happen with the VP14 trail version too?

@OldSmoke - Haven't reinstalled the trial yet after doing a full wipe and fresh reinstall of Windows and all apps - Had to get work done. Will install and see what comes of it...

This may well be the common but harmless "Vegas Pro has stopped working" crash on exit that SCS were unable to solve in VP13. I still get it in VP14 too but not as often.

For me this issue started in VP14 after I installed a bunch of 3rd party plug-ins. It might be coincidence but maybe the plug-ins cause this in VP14.

No matter if it happens in VP13 or VP14 – when sending an error report, always be sure not to only click onto the send button as this doesn't work. Follow the instructions described here instead.

I also get the Vegas Has Stopped Working box every time I exit VP13 and a few seconds later it invariably crashes windows with a BSOD (page fault in non-paged area). My work around is to try not to exit the programme, just close the project and leave VP13 running. I notice that after closing a project Task Manager still shows a significant memory usage on VP13, almost as though the project is still loaded even though you have closed it. I can live with it but it's annoying.

I reported on this in another thread. I don't think it's trying to load but rather trying to save and shut down at the same time. I have found that if I save, wait a few seconds until the save is completed, then close I avoid the crash you're experiencing. May not be the same problem for you, but worth a try.

Looking at JackW's experience, this may well be related to external drives, specifically with laptops as these tend to switch them off more frequently if not in use.

I've made sure my laptops customized power settings are to not turn off any of my hard drives when plugged in and my primary external is a 2x1TB eSata attached raid 0. I store my Vegas and PPro project files and final renders on an internally docked 1TB drive where the DVD drive would normally be.

Say "thanks" to the Vegasaur's DLL.
