Vp16_B248 Desktop icon

Peter_P wrote on 8/27/2018, 6:54 AM

Hello together,

unfortunately the desktop icon of Vp16 B248 looks the same as the Vp15 one:

Therefore I have ‘designed’ my own one and replaced it in the vegas160.exe/link to avoid confusion.

The same problem exists with Vegas MS14 and 15. I hope MS16 will have a different icon!!

Liking the Vegas 16 Suite color I just took the icon from V 15 on the desktop by the Win 10 snipping-tool, saved it as a jpg and put it on the Vegas 16 TL - then by Color Correction Secondary I changed the hue. Then saved it as a jpg. Then found an internet-page which could make a jpg into an ico - and now my desktop looks like this:

I still have a problem with the identical icons when opening a *.veg (from Vp15 or before)

which is which ? Changing the icon for an EXE is not that easy as changing the link.

With the Resource Hacker, or similar Tools, it seems to be possible to change even the icon in the vegas.exe. But I had to rename the exe to make windows show the new icon. Up to now I could not see a way to make windows to forget the association of the old icon to the original exe name. Any ideas ?

Found it. Running 'ie4uinit -show' will clear and update the explorer cash.

Peter_P wrote on 9/4/2018, 11:58 AM

Unfortunately the so patched exe will no longer be executed. So you have to keep the ordinal as a renamed file and execute the “ie4uinit -show” and than delete the patched exe and rename the original back.
