VP22 B239 Terribly Slow -- Almost Unusable

alexander-jason wrote on 2/9/2025, 3:52 AM

I've been using VP since v1.0. I'm having terrible problems with v22 build 239. First, it takes about 5-10 minutes to load. The rendering is extremely slow -- much slower than I've ever seen. I'm on a Win11 machine with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and 64G of RAM. Once open, I can edit without problems but the slow rendering is a killer. Doesn't matter what render profile I use. Yes, I set the preferences to use the RTX3080 card to render. I've been using Vegas Pro for many years. Never seen this problem.

I'm now rendering a 1080 video, 5 minute length. Here's what my render data shows:

It would be helpful if you could upload a detailed MediaInfo report to this post showing a report on a typical media event that you are using on the timeline. MediaInfo is a free app - more information about it and a link to install it follows in this forum post: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Also, what are the settings in Options/Preferences/ File I/O, are any FX being used and if yes which ones, and what was the acquisition device (e.g. camera)?

Do you get normal results for the benchmarks in my signature? If so it's an issue with media or Fx as Dexcon noted.

Otherwise if even those are slow, consider resetting VEGAS.

I am not using any FX nor cropping. The problem exists with ANY and EVERY video I use for rendering. Camera doesn't matter. Here is the media info for the video I was rendering (downloaded from YT):

Roger,

I am currently rendering your benchmark file. It will take 6 hours or so.

RogerS wrote on 2/10/2025, 1:16 AM

Time to reset VEGAS as even a laptop from 2017 with overheating problems is closer to 5 minutes.

You may also have to reinstall GPU drivers and do other troubleshooting to get VEGAS to work normally again.

I'd also double-check there is no virus or other program improperly consuming system resources.

Consider other benchmarks like CPU-Z https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html and 3DMark to check the GPU and CPU are performing as expected vs peer systems. https://benchmarks.ul.com/3dmark
