Not sure what that means Tom sounds like a British rail sandwich to me
This is what I typed

@a href="http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/textdisp?mark2929-satish_
title_test">mark2929 Plugin Test@/a>

I replaced the < With a @ so it wouldent turn into a hyperlink

Satish,

First, thanks for all the work!

I can't seem to rotate/postion/scale 3d text, though? What order do you add these?
I'm using Wax as a Video FX in Vegas 4. I add the Wax FX to my clip, Wax opens, I add Postion3D, then the Text 3D (your manual says I have to add Position 3d before the item it's affecting). The "HOST" video clip is under that. But any changes made in Position 3D don't affect the text.

Maybe Mark, above, who posted the clip above can fill me in.

I just want spinning 3d text on top of my video clip (I DON'T WANT the clip to spin, just want it as a background element.)
I'm sure it's a simple answer!!!!

Thanks, Satish, for you help. Just so other people know, you need to have the "split screen view" turned off. This is the icon just above the preview window that enables/disables whether you can see the effect. If it is "pushed in" when you load the Wax plug-in, it won't load. Pop it back out and the plug in loads.

Daniel Sorry time difference (Just got up) Yawn Umm Right its still all new to me. But here goes.. You added wax to your clip.. The host Video clip appears.. Add 3D Text to the media pool In WAX.. underneath The host Clip.. Press the twirly For 3D Text and you Have all them lovely Controls at your disposal. You have about 3 or 4 different categories. The first twirly Category you use to type your Text, Font, Size, ect when Finished turn the twirly (Dont want to Much Clutter) Then move onto the other categories.

I just scroll down change each setting so as to get a keyframe up Then see what each One does.

Great Fun :)

Put the Position3d just below the 3dtext plugin. "Before" = "Below" in the way the tracks and plugins are composited, from bottom to top.

OK, so the guy is good, modest to a fault, will not take a dime, and has been working on this nearly a year if I remember correctly. So, how to say thanks? I have a proposition for you advanced users and I hope it will not be seen as impertinent to suggest it but I know he would never do, so here goes -

Satish made a comment to me that stuck in my brain when I suggested he do some really flashy veg based demos as well as a streaming video to showcase the power of WAX2 and potentially enhance his career.

He said something like, "Hey, I'm just a programmer, I'm not artistic like the people that will actually be using WAX2. That stuff is very, very hard for me to do, and I would rather use the time to better the code."

I think it would be a great thank you if some of you highly experienced users could work toward the goal of creating some killer demos files and maybe even a video demo that could be streamed from his site so as to just knock the socks off of the viewer.

Again, as I just lurk here most of the time, I hope nobody is offended by me making such a suggestion. I just think this would be a very cool way to say "thank you". BTW, Satish, I hope I have not embarrassed you! :-)

Sounds like a really good idea to me !

Or, we could just send him money....
DDogg wrote on 3/27/2004, 11:53 AM
That would be for him to say, however I think HQ demos would be worth more to him.

The concept of paying back someone's specialized skill set with something from your own specialized skill set seems the perfect respectful barter, and has much more worth than money.

Since I'm not much of an artistic person, I try to pay him back with hours of - frankly, mind numbing testing :) Maybe some of the heavy hitter artistic types can do 'their thing' for him in their own way.

It just seems like a right thing.

Okay, I just can't get this to work, Satish (moving/spinning text).
1. Apply Wax Fx to clip.
2. Wax plugin opens. Host media (video clip) is on track 1(inside Wax).
3. If I put the Text 3D on track 2 (below HOST), I cannot see the text I enter.
4. So I put the Text 3D in track 1 and HOST on track 2. Now I can see the video clip and the text on top of it. I can keyframe the the bevel, extrude, and matierials for the text. So far, so good. So I move HOST to track 3 (because I need room for Position 3D on track 2, right below Text 3D)
5. So I put Position 3D below Text 3D, on track 2, and changing Position 3D's parameters has no effect on anything. Not on Text 3D or the video clip.

Please help.

Dan

Later:

Okay, now I see if make Text 3D a SUBSET of HOST (not on Track 2, but a subset as the hierarchy tree shows), I then have all the postion, rotate, scale, properties and I can keyframe all those. So, can't the host media be a video track (because i can't see it underneath in this fashion). Does the host media have be transparent media?
Still confused. I want moving, spinning, rotating text with a video track in the background. Sorry to nag, just excited about getting this to work!
JohnnyRoy wrote on 3/27/2004, 1:59 PM
Try inserting an Empty Event on the track above your video on the Vegas timeline. Then add Wax to that empty event and in Wax add the Text 3D to HostMedia1 (which is now the empty event) and Rotate to your heart's content using the Rotate 3D controls that are added with the Text 3D. This gives to the added option of moving the text on the Vegas timeline independent of the video just as you would a Generated Media title.

I think Ddog's idea is a good one. If I can think of a worthy demo, I'd be happy to contribute.

Greg, thanks for bringing this part of the thread chain back on topic. :)

"If I can think of a worthy demo..."

I think any demo is a worthy demo. The more the better. Simple ones, complex ones, hey they are all good as they may show somebody exactly what they are looking for. Thanks again for the reply.

How's this new ap going for you guys, who have it up and running properly ? I'm downloading .NET as I peck, but am wondering if I should wait until Satish squeezes any bugs out of it ? I'm running an AMD XP /W2K/ box,and noticed a few of the guys running similiar rigs seemed to be having problems...
satish wrote on 3/31/2004, 2:45 PM
I would recommend waiting for another couple of days and use the upcoming 2.0b version which has fixes for all the known issues. But some users have it running fine on win2k so it's worth giving a try...
