Won't Burn an Audio CD properly

I have sporadic issues with V10e not burning all the tracks properly...I say properly, as it does create tracks, just nothing on them. I have found that if i close out Vegas and then open up the project up and then burn the CD, it will burn it properly. I have noticed that when i am working on multiple projects, one after the other, there will be multiple vegas100exe processes showing up in the task manager, as though previous ones don't close all the way, and that is when I notice the CD burning glitch. I always burn at 8x, so I don't think it has anything to do with burn speed. I have used CD architect to burn also, but you then have to render your individual tracks first, not as convenient as burning directly from Vegas. If the features in Vegas won't work (to the point where many here call it a known issue), I think Vegas owes it to their customers to fix the "issues". V10 is the last release to work in XP, and I am sure there are many who haven't updated their OS's yet who still would like to use the software they paid for without "Known Issues". Rant over.

You don't have to save individual tracks first. CD Architect does "track in file" from regions created on the Vegas timeline. You can save the Vegas timeline to a .wav file with regions included. Then, in CD Architect, you can create tracks from regions. It's so easy that, since I have the program already, the only time I think about burnning a CD from the Vegas timeline is when I read of someone having a problem.

Thanks for the "Rant".... I agree with your conclusion for the "known Issue fix".

Thanks for the reminder John Dennis...I always forget about using regions. I still like to see one less step in the work flow if I'm trying to bust out a last minute CD though... when things work the way they are supposed to, it's just a beautiful thing! I guess that's really what irks me is when stuff sporadically works, and it usually doesn't when I'm in a hurry...push the buttons and poof! Magic happens...or doesn't. I'm getting ready for a new build of my system, and wondering what kinds of new frustrations to expect. Thanks to the old hands here at the forum who will undoubtedly bail me out when i get to that step! Thanks again John!

I experience this issue as well. It only seems to happen if I change application "focus" away from Vegas while the burn is occurring. If I don't change focus, the burn is successful. Perhaps others can confirm if this is a repeatable recipe.

Not for me. I regularly do any large number of other tasks on the PC while burning.

Well, after saying six weeks ago that V11 appeared to have solved this, I've now had the same thing with the lastest build 683.

I even had a 12 track CD where the first 11 were ok but the 12th contained no audio.

Another 5 tracker quit after three tracks.

Back to CD Architect. Sometimes burning straight from Vegas can save having to render, but better to render than have blank tracks.

"Back to CD Architect."

CDA was in my opinion the best application Sonic Foundry wrote. I made a pile of money using it to master CDs and not once had any issues with it.

Yes, I agree Bob, CD Architect still as good as Vegas once was and I hope will soon be again.

I still get a kick out of adding CD Text and seeing the name appear on my car's CD player screen. Simple pleasures!
