RE: NeatVideo 4: which version to upgrade to?
Piotr, my GPU has *only* 4GB VRAM, and I can run Resolve Studio with no problem. I'm pushing the limit, to be sure, but it works. I have no idea why your version is "demanding" 8GB. Even that exceeds BlackMagic's own recommendations for 4k

RE: NeatVideo 4: which version to upgrade to?
From me, a solid two thumbs up for using the OFX version of NeatVideo in Resolve. I ingest 4k source footage into Resolve (Studio -- paid version), export HD proxies to cut in Vegas, then export from Vegas an XML to Resolve and grade the original

Sony FS5 clips crashing Vegas
So, after problems with ProRes clips from BlackMagic4k i moved to fs5 hoping that vegas can handle those clips better... well, how wrong was i. Because it's XVAC-L it's painfully slow to edit, but of course you can with proxies, so you can get away

RE: Vegas Pro 14 Announcement - w Native ProRes!
Back in mid April, when we were finding product listings for Vegas 14 on various websites (including Dell) just before Vegas went into hiding, this was included in the description (found on Google's cached pages of the Dell product

RE: SURVEY: Would you upgrade to VP14 if...
@rmack350... ....this is in response to CUDA wish list...I have the Open CL card, and it really doesn't factor in much, on or off, except when there are suspected conflicts or crashes, in which case you are just turning it off....I don't really see

RE: Vegas vs Resolve stability
DaVinci release 12.5 has over 250 new features. BlackMagic are serious about making it the NLE of choice and will be interesting to see whether the new features make Resolve into a more intuitive NLE. When I started with Vegas 5 I was surprised how

RE: RE PC WITH THUNDERBOLT
If you mean "print" video thru a device conduit like firewire, then Thunderbolt would be a no go AFAIK. The only other known device to monitor video would be thru assorted devices as set up by BlackMagic Design hardware. Usually that can be done by

RE: Best AVI codec resembling Blackmagic or Cineform
There is much wrong in the recommendations of this thread. For example, the Canous HQX is decoded in Vegas as 8bit only! Even if this codec is great in Edius, it is less worth in Vegas (where the Canopus HQ would be enough). I do still not know if

Best AVI codec resembling Blackmagic or Cineform
Hello- I used to use Blackmagic as an intermediate codec for quick rendering from Vegas. Before that I used Cineform, now GoPro. I can't find the Blackmagic codec anywhere online, nor a place to download the GoPro. Does anyone know a good,

RE: Hey Magix! Add this to Vegas MX:
I would be happy if the available Blackmagic and AJA cards would be supported better, instead of HD up to UHD 50p/60p if the card supports that. But the poor playback capabilities for UHD even with easy formats like Cineform or even XAVC are an

RE: Hey Magix! Add this to Vegas MX:
Sometimes I ask myself how many here have used Vegas on a modern 8-core system, equiped with actual more then one GPU but also videocards like Decklink or AJA. And I ask myself how many here are working with x-log files and 10 or 12 bit

RE: Bye Sony, Hi Magix !
I can tell you that Video Pro X has GPU support, as well as support for Blackmagic Cards. However, I have downloaded the trial of Video Pro X8, and the OpenFX integration is buggy to say the least. I could not get it to read my Red Giant, New Blue,

iNdepthphoto, Color correction is one of VideoFXs available to use inside Vegas, there are several other FXs you can also use for color corrections, such as Level, Color Balance (very similar to Photoshop's Color Balance), Color Corrector

RE: Vegas Pro 14 - The Future
@John222 "Btw, Resolve won't do everything as well as Vegas..." True, but that is normal because the editing capabilities in Davinci Resolve started in version 10, which is less than 2 years ago, comparing to Vegas Pro which is at least 15 years

That reminded me. Back when Lord of the Rings movies were released on DVD they had some behind the scenes footage of a dude motion tracking a face, attaching a mask to the track, and then brightening the face a bit. I immediately requested a similar

Resolve is a joke. On an older laptop it crashes without doing anything, on a new laptop with nvidia 970 playback is about 1frame per 5 seconds, no matter what, .avi, mp4, etc...... Even if you do get it to work there is a whole bunch of stuff in

RE: Vegas Alternatives
I do not think that people suggest Resolve to be used instead of Vegas. But it is a very great extension that can be used as a preparation tool to edit footage in Vegas. I test at the moment Resolve 12.5 beta 2, and so far it looks great. I do not

Blackmagic sells pro hardware. The paid version of Resolve and Fusion offer the things big studios need, rather than most of us. The free version is an indoctrination to their products.

I had also a closer look to resolve 12.5 during the last days - and I also can confirm that it works great with my R9 390X with 8GB. What does not work so great is the quadro K4200 with 4GB only (what seems to be new since with Resolve 12.3 the
