720/1080p videos in a 4K project

Hello everyone,

I want to do a 4K video project and I would like to include video segments that are 1080p definition.

Is there an upscal function to adapt these files to 4K? I saw that there is a "scale increase" function (translation from French : augmentation d'échelle) but I don't know if it corresponds and how to use it.

Do you have any advice ?

There's an upscale FX function in Vegas, but don't expect miracles as shown by Topaz.

My advice, just add some sharpen FX to the 720/1080p video segments in a 4k project.

@JH26 I don't know if the Vegas upscale fx does that... only ever used it to zoom in for cropping something out of the frame, and only on 4k footage. But I usually shoot with a couple of hd ptz cameras in my 4k multicam projects. Just try to embed them closer to the subject and use sharpen fx as described above.

1080p to 2160p is feasible in Vegas 20 and 21 using Upscale, or in Topaz Video AI. In general, Vegas Upscale has a little better static resolution, while Topaz has slightly better motion estimation, and Topaz can be a LOT slower.

Conservatively, 720p to 2160p is frankly pushing your luck a bit with either upscaler, and your satisfaction is contingent on a number of things, including source detail vs. noise and what size your viewing screen is. Experiment.
