AI Features in Vegas Pro Suite 22

stevefoobar2 wrote on 11/12/2024, 9:36 PM

Do the AI features of Vegas Pro 22 Suite require the subscription version of Vegas? I've always purchased the perpetual license of Vegas and I'm trying to determine if it's worth me upgrading from Vegas Pro 19 to Vegas Pro 22 Suite but the perpetual license version. I'm just an amateur and can't really justify the cost of a subscription. Thanks.

The AI VFX are the same in both the perpetual and the subscription arrangements - the AI VFX are installed with the Deep Learning Models program. However, there is a difference in the allowances for Text-to-Speech (and v-v), cloud storage and stock footage between the two arrangements. @stevefoobar2 Just remember, you must have the corresponding Deep Learning Models installed for the AI features to work.

I'm afraid I don't know what those are. They must not be part of my Vegas Pro 19 perpetual license either.

@stevefoobar2 They were part of the original download. If you're missing anything they are here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

Just to be clear, I have only Vegas Pro Edit 19 perpetual license right now. Are you saying the Deep Learning Models should have been included in that version?

Dexcon wrote on 11/13/2024, 2:31 AM

The Deep learning Models also come with all versions of Vegas Pro including Edit.

The confirmation email for your Vegas Pro 19 purchase should have included a link to Vegas Pro 19's installer. The installer should have listed both VP19 and the DLMs, as per:

@stevefoobar2 If you are at a bit of a loss, here is the link to the Model for Vegas Pro 19:

VEGAS Deep Learning Models 19.3.0.0

Deep Learning Models are needed only for the AI effects like AI Auto Reframe, AI Smart Mask or AI Colorization. Those have always been included with the perpetual license.

What was not initially included were the Text to Speech and Speech to Text tools, which required a subscription, and don't need the Deep Learning Models (they are a different thing). But since version 21 they are also accesible for owners of perpetual licenses, wirh the limitations indicated in the link already provided.

So currently no AI features require a subscription. If you upgrade to VEGAS Pro 22 you will be able to use all of them.

@stevefoobar2 You've probably already discovered this but there are only 3 AI FX in vp19: Colorization, Style Transfer, and Upscale. Smart Upscale & Zoom are in the Deprecated menu but are not AI and do not require the Deep Learning Module to be installed... AI Upscale does what they do better, but is allot slower. If you like the AI FX in vp19, just be advised it was new and buggy back then; Vegas AI has gotten more stable with every release and the current version adds many new AI features like those mentioned above.
