Alternative to Magix text to speech

chris-minchin wrote on 9/3/2021, 5:10 PM

For those Vegas Pro 19 users who were disappointed to find that the text to speech was only available to 365 subscription users, here is an alternative that provides the same quality and range of voices.

https://VoiceMaker.in

They provide a limited character input for free (400 char per time). with unlimited times

Also you can rent it for a very reasonable price of $5:0 per month or for very large files $8:0 per month.

They do NOT auto renew so it can be used for whatever time period you wish.

It is easy to use and quick.

Much cheaper than the subscription service offered Magix.

Been playing with that a while myself. Found I could record directly to an armed Vegas audio track with a driver that has internal routing like an rme fireface ucx. I imagine garden variety Realtek would also work if you use a cable to feed the output back to the recording jack. Vegas Capture might work too but I've never had much success with that on amd boards. Amd RePlay does it pretty well however and Intel Graphics Command Center also works as long as I capture 720p video with it. I imagine OBS could do it too.

But I wouldn't count on Microsoft making it so easy to get it for free forever with their link. That would undercut their revenue model with developers like Vegas that gets charged for all of their app user's usage.

@chris-minchin

VoiceMaker is simply a front-end for Amazon Polly. An alternative is to get an AWS account in which for the first 12 months (Free Tier), you get 5 million characters per month (standard) or 1 million characters per month (neural). Here is their detailed pricing policy. https://aws.amazon.com/polly/pricing/

An advantage of both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Polly is that they both support SSML.

I have been using Play.ht https://play.ht/. It has lots of voices and different languages, works really well, and the phrases can be customized with emphasis, custom pronunciations, multi-voices, etc..

Has anyone actually registered with voicemaker and used it? Tried to create an account but it wouldn't register.

This is a VEGAS Pro forum, not a Voice Maker forum. Off topic. Closing this thread.
