Audio drag delay

Jody-Nasworthy wrote on 5/12/2023, 9:04 AM

When I am moving events around, I notice when I click the audio and start to drag it, it will not move for a few seconds and then it catches up. Never had this happen before. Any ideas what is causing that? Thank you.

We need more information about your source media, Project Properties, etc.

I just dragged an audio clip all over Hell's Half Acre with no lag. I'm working old FHD projects at the moment.

Is it since build 403 (Vegas 20)?

Do you use 'any' 3rd party VST2 / VST3 plugins?

When it's pure audio related, maybe it has to do something with these (similar) issues (like "tearing" when you try to alter an event / parameter);

In build 370 the speed went up by miles, when I did turn the option off "to create undo's for FX".

But in build 403 this option doesn't do anything and the lag / sluggish drag * drop (tearing) is much more worse.

#Peterson - Yes I do have fx assigned to these audio events. I am using efx compressor VST2 and efx limiter VST2. I took off all effects and it still does it.

Okay, but did it start (the issue) in build 403? Or was it already there in 370 (the previous build).

When you drag, is the 'event' following your cursor (at a distance, like slow motion) or not moving at all?

In my case (and others) knobs and sliders (in audio plugins) are reacting extreme slow on mouse movement, like they follow your cursor in slow motion, stick to the screen, jump back and forth, catches up and slows down again.

That's a serious issue, introduced in 370 (bypass was "do not create undo's for FX") and is now unworkable slow in 403 (bypassing doesn't work anymore).
